BELLEVILLE, Mich. — A Good Samaritan was placed in a bad situation on a metro Detroit highway. Now his close call is going viral on social media while also alerting motorists to beware and trust your instincts. It was around 10 p.m. on Sunday when John Hadyniak of Belleville, Michigan  was heading home driving down I-94. When he got near Belleville road, he saw a woman on the side of the road changing a flat tire. Hadyniak's first thought was to stop and give her a hand, then his red flag radar lit up like the Fourth of July. The trunk on the car was closed, said Hadyniak, who is also a mechanic, and he noticed there was no plate on the trunk of the car. "I noticed that there was no jack and she had a tire iron in her hand," Hadyniak said. "Things didn't add up. It was just a bad feeling."He listened to that gut feeling and pulled out a flashlight and shined it on the woman. "I put the flashlight on her when I got out of the car," he said. "And about 15 feet off the side of the road there was a guy laying in the grass. I hit him with the light. He got up and jumped in the car and took off down I-94"In that moment, Hadyniak thought of what could have transpired. Those "what ifs" are still swirling around in his head. "Worse case scenario, I could have got bopped in the head with that, laid dead on the side of the expressway," he said. "(They could have) robbed me, stole my car – everything. If I wouldn't have seen him, it would have been bad news."Hadyniak posted the phonies foiled plan on Facebook with a warning to folks to be smart and beware. He also contacted the cops and gave them a description of the car – a silver Nissan Sentra.  1736

BOCA RATON, Fla. - A young girl with a big heart and a love of music recently started a charity event to raise money in the fight against Parkinson's disease.Music has been a part of 11-year-old Kasey Moore's life since she picked up a violin at the age of three."I enjoyed it more and more as I grew older," Kasey said.Now, she is practicing playing the piano every day."When I practice, some part inside of me gets alive," Kasey said.Because of the pandemic, she's been able to dedicate more time to her musical passion while at home with her family.Her father, Dr. Henry Moore, is a neurologist at the University of Miami who specializes in movement disorders like Parkinson's disease."He helps people that suffer from this terrible disease called Parkinson's, and this disease affects their brain," Kasey said. Facebook, WPTV An 11-year-old Boca Raton girl used her time during the pandemic to start a fundraiser to help benefit the Parkinson Foundation. Moore has been spending more time working from his home office, which gave Kasey a chance to feed her curiosity while her dad cared for patients."She was very moved by people, how they were very disabled, and then with the medication, they were super happy and so hopeful that this disease will stop," Moore said."It really touched my heart, and I wanted to do something to help, but I wasn't sure how," Kasey said.She decided to do her part to fight Parkinson's disease by creating a fundraiser called "Parkin-Song." Her father said she's onto something with the healing power of music."There is music therapy even tested for Parkinson's disease patients, and it helps a lot. BEIJING (AP) — A Chinese court has sentenced a former lawyer who reported on the early stage of the coronavirus outbreak to four years in prison on charges of “picking fights and provoking trouble."The court in the financial hub of Shanghai gave the sentence to Zhang Zhan following accusations she spread false information, gave interviews to foreign media, disrupted public order and “maliciously manipulated" the outbreak. Prosecutors say she published "large amounts of fake information," but her lawyers say no concrete examples have been provided to prove this. Zhang traveled to Wuhan in February and posted on various social media platforms about the outbreak that is believed to have emerged in the central Chinese city late last year. BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A Florida woman has been arrested after she allegedly beat and strangled her newborn twins to death, claiming she didn't know she was pregnant before she gave birth. Rachael Lynn Thomas, 30, told law enforcement that she gave birth to the boy and girl newborns on the toilet, according to WFTV. She said that the infants later died. An autopsy report released on Tuesday revealed that there was more to the babies' deaths than Thomas' story.According to police, Thomas called 911 from her home on Sunday "in reference to an unresponsive newborn." Thomas said she left work that morning after feeling sick. When she got home, she says she went to use the restroom and gave birth on the toilet, according to reports.Police said Thomas cut the baby boy's umbilical cord with a pair of scissors, placed him inside a blue shirt and began "cleaning up the mess," according to the arrest warrant."Baby John Doe" was pronounced dead at the hospital.When investigators went to Thomas' home, they say they found the body of a newborn girl in the trash can in a carport. Police say that it appeared as though she had tried to conceal the body with trash. Detectives say that the infant's umbilical cord was wrapped around her throat and that an object was lodged in the back of her throat. "Baby Jane Doe" was pronounced dead at the scene.According to reports, Thomas claims she didn't know she was pregnant and said that she continued to have her period until this month.Detectives said that the newborn twins suffered severe blunt force trauma to their heads.Investigators said Thomas told them “they were both dead and she got scared,” according to WFTV.Thomas was arrested on Monday afternoon and charged with child neglect and one count of tampering with evidence. On Tuesday, the charges were upgraded to one count of first-degree murder, two counts of felony murder and two counts of aggravated child abuse. Thomas has two other children. The 1-year-old and 8-year-old are now in the care of a relative, Department of Children and Families officials said. 2137
