A physical struggle between a woman and a group of squeegee kids ended with a gunshot.It happened just after 2 p.m. Wednesday in Baltimore.A woman called police and reported her gun went off after a group of squeegee kids surrounded and began reaching into her car while stopped at a light.The woman told police the group first sprayed her windshield. According to a police report, the group allegedly became very aggressive, and began demanding money, and damaging the car with the squeegee.The victim told officers the group refused to move, and there was no way to drive off without running them over.Out of fear, the woman told police she reached into her purse and grabbed a registered handgun, while still asking them to leave.One of the suspects then reportedly reached into the car and grabbed the woman's wrist, she was holding the gun with.After a struggle, the gun fired into the passenger seat of the victim's vehicle, causing the group to flee.Police say they were unable to find anyone in the group.In their report, the officer wrote the victim had all proper permits to carry the gun.The incident is the latest of many involving squeegee kids in Baltimore.This article was written by Brian Kuebler and Ryan Dickstein for WMAR. 1254

An animal shelter in Canada says it has gotten calls from around the world after it shared the story of a dog that was found along with five kittens.A post from the Pet and Wildlife shelter in Chatham, Ontario, described how the dog was found keeping the kittens warm on the side of a road on a cold night.She was cuddling up against them in the snow.Someone notified a shelter, and an animal control officer picked them up.The kittens have been taken in by a foster family because they are not old enough to be adopted yet.The dog, now named Serenity, will be ready for adoption on Dec. 3. 602

A Spanish man spent his summer vacation paddling his way from the west coast of the U.S. across the Pacific Ocean to Hawaii.It took Antonio de la Rosa 76 days to paddle some 2,500 miles while standing on a submarine-shaped craft. He had planned to make the trip in 70 days, but suspects he drifted too far north at one point during his journey.He celebrated his 50th birthday at sea and arrived Saturday in Honolulu.de la Rosa said Monday that he's feeling a bit tired.He paddled eight-to-10 hours daily and slept every night. American hiring rebounded last month after an unusually weak job market in February, but signs still point to a gradual economic slowdown.The US economy added 196,000 jobs in March, up from 33,000 the prior month.
