They all got together in their homes and they had tea," Executive Director Caron Andregg said, painting the picture of what the club looked like back then. In 2012, they officially became a 501(c)(3) non-profit and over the past five years they've been tuning to a more modern note."We've filtered out a lot of the older traditional music and we started filtering in more modern music," Andregg said.She said the crowds have loved it and they've ran with it, gaining notoriety and ultimately an invite to the Pearl Harbor Memorial Ceremony. Andregg added someone personally recommended the club to the organizers of the event on Honolulu."Getting 25 ladies to Hawaii is no small task," Music Director Kyle Adam Blair said. The group has been frantically making calls for two weeks, but are not gaining any traction."I can't even get people to pick up their phones ... That's why we're panicking and asking you for help," Andregg said.The club is stepping in after an East Coast choir suffered a misfortune and couldn't perform.Andregg said they are honored for the opportunity to be the only vocal ensemble."We're from a Navy town and we have a relationship with the Midway and we have relationships with other Naval outlets, we've performed for Naval ceremonies," she said.The group needs to raise ,000 in a month so they can book the flights and lodging for the choir members. 1706

The two-story home and store addition was added in 1857 by Thomas Whaley. It was the first two-story brick edifice in San Diego and built using bricks made in Whaley's brickyard.The house operated as one of the first stores in the Old Town area and at one time was Whaley's home, a courtroom, a general store, and a theater simultaneously.While the store served the community in multiple ways during the 1800s, it seems its residents of one of the most haunted homes in America have stayed behind to watch over the grounds.During tours, museum guides will explore the stories of Whaley; his wife, Anna; their children, Violet and Tommie; and "Yankee" Jim Robinson — all of whom are believed to still be at the home in some form."Yankee Jim" was hanged on the grounds in 1852. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego family of a Los Angeles firefighter who may have been kidnapped in Rosarito, Mexico, is speaking out.It’s been more than two weeks since 20-year veteran LA City firefighter Frank Aguilar was last seen after heading to his second home in Baja, California.“We’re hopeful. We haven't lost hope,” his local cousin Nancy told ABC10 News. She’s only providing a first name, due to safety concerns. “Nobody seems to know anything and it's very frustrating for the family to not know anything."On Wednesday, LA Mayor Eric Garcetti announced that his office learned from Mexican authorities that the 48-year-old firefighter may have been violently kidnapped from his Baja condo. “We will work tirelessly to make sure that Frank is returned safely,” he said in a news conference."[The mayor] did mention that he is going to provide all resources from Los Angeles to help get my dad back,” said daughter Amaris Aguilar.“I had just spoken to my dad the morning that we discovered he was missing. When he left for Rosarito, he was describing how safe or how good he felt in that community. He wanted to retire there,” added daughter Bella Aguilar.The daughters say that his condo was in a guard-gated community.His family has told reporters that his phone is off and they've heard that his condo may have been ransacked, his vehicles are missing and Ring video shows a troubling scene.“We're going to get you back. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The United States Postal Service is handling nearly 16 billion deliveries this holiday season, a record number.Warren Burton, a program manager at the USPS, says it is a 12 percent increase from last year.“There’s a lot of online shopping,” he said, “a lot more than last year.” As a result, the USPS processing and distribution center at Carmel Mountain Ranch in San Diego added more seasonal workers. About 1,100 people are working around the clock up from the normal staffing of close to 900.“We gear up all year for this time of the year, we know it’s going to be non-stop, high volume-high demand,” Burton added.The White House declared Christmas Eve a federal holiday this year, but Burton says that USPS will remain open on Christmas Eve.“We greatly appreciate the gesture, but we’re going to keep working so we can keep the mail going,” Burton said.He says Dec. 20 is the last day to mail out a package or holiday card to make sure it is delivered by Christmas Day using regular shipping.
