You can help NASA discover new planets.On Wednesday, the agency announced its new website called Planet Patrol, where astronomers can hunt down new worlds, with the public's help.NASA said they’d sort through images collected by NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite or TESS for short.“Automated methods of processing TESS data sometimes fail to catch imposters that look like exoplanets,” said project leader Veselin Kostov in a press release. “The human eye is extremely good at spotting such imposters, and we need citizen scientists to help us distinguish between the look-alikes and genuine planets.”TESS captured hundreds of thousands of snapshots over a year, but scientists need help because there are too many pictures to examine.Kostov said that computers are excellent at analyzing data, but sometimes fail to determine potential planets from fakes.Participants will answer questions as they sift through the images to help Kostov and his team of researchers narrow down the list of potential planets. 1027

It's just so dangerous to let your kid have a phone and not know what they're doing on it."Grandmother Kathleen Hamilton can't even comprehend having to track her children in the digital age."We didn't have the internet, we didn't have a smartphone," Hamilton said. "You have to really watch as a parent a lot more than I had to because there wasn't that openness with a computer and your name and your email. There wasn't any of that."While many apps students use have chat features, there are apps parents can use as well.Parents in Arizona are crediting the Sentry Parental Control app with helping them find inappropriate messages sent to their child from a teacher, who has since been charged.Other monitoring apps include Flexispy and Qustodio, among many others.Some monitoring apps are more expensive and some are more invasive on a child's privacy. The bill now heads to President Donald Trump's desk.When you place a freeze on your credit report, it prohibits the credit rating company from disclosing your personal information, effectively preventing anyone from opening a credit card or loan in your name. You'd need to lift the freeze if you want to open a line of credit yourself.A freeze goes a step further than a credit monitoring or fraud alert service. Those generally notify you of suspicious activity after it happens.But under current state laws, there is often a fee to place and lift a credit freeze Most security freezes cost between and , though several states have already made them free.Plus, you'd need to place a freeze on credit reports at all three credit rating agencies — Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion — and pay a fee at each of them.The new legislation will make placing, lifting, and permanently removing freezes free no matter where you live. after a vehicle they were in was swept away by flood waters in Gila County, Arizona.According to the Gila County Sheriff's Office, a vehicle tried to cross Tonto Creek at the Bar X crossing at about 4 p.m. local time Friday but was swept up by flooding.Two adults and four children made it out fo the car alive. One of the adults and the children were later rescued from an island in the creek, and the second adult was able to make it to the creek bank.
