in response to COVID-19 in the United States.Romney's proposed measures were listed in a news release issued Monday morning:Provide Economic Stability for Working Americans:Immediately Send ,000 Checks to Each American: Every American adult should immediately receive ,000 to help ensure families and workers can meet their short-term obligations and increase spending in the economy. Congress took similar action during the 2001 and 2008 recessions. While expansions of paid leave, unemployment insurance, and SNAP benefits are crucial, the check will help fill the gaps for Americans that may not quickly navigate different government options. Provide Grants to Impacted Small Businesses: Provide bridge grants from the SBA to qualified small businesses that apply but don’t receive Economic Injury Disaster Loans. This program would ensure small businesses can meet short-term obligations, such as payroll and rent, without forcing them into future bankruptcies. An eligible small businesses must exhibit a revenue loss greater than 50% from the same month in the prior year. The program will also include criminal penalties for fraud and an audit by the SBA’s Inspector General to ensure compliance.Ease Financial Burden for Students Allow “Unexpected Costs Due to COVID-19” as Factor for Pell Grant Amount: To ease the burden on some students who had to make unexpected travel, housing, and storage purchases due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we should amend the Higher Education Act’s “Cost of Attendance” to take into account such costs. Doing this will impact the Pell Grant award amounts and more accurately reflect the current reality for students. Loan Deferment for Recent Graduates Impacted by COVID-19: Defer the payment of student loans for a period of time to ease the burden of those who are just graduating now, in an economy suffering because of the COVID-19 outbreak.Improve Telehealth Services for Health Workers and Patients: Require Insurance Plans to Temporarily Cover Telehealth: To protect the health workforce and connect patients with providers, require all private insurance companies (individual, small- and large-group, and self-insured market) to cover telehealth services, if the reason for using telehealth services is related to COVID-19. The federal government would reimburse private plans for the full cost of services."“The House coronavirus response package contains critical measures to help families in Utah and across the nation in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak, and the Senate should act swiftly on this legislation," Romney said in the news release. “We also urgently need to build on this legislation with additional action to help families and small businesses meet their short-term financial obligations, ease the financial burden on students entering the workforce, and protect health workers on the front lines and their patients by improving telehealth services. I will be pushing these measures as Senate discussions continue about an additional relief package.” 3028

-- almost certainly will be rejected. As the House comes back into session after a week-long recess, keep an eye on any detail into how Democrats and Republicans are preparing for Wednesday's first hearing. YUMA, Arizona (KGTV) - Among those making the trek to to Yuma Tuesday for a presidential visit is a local man with a unique message of support."When I found out he was coming on Monday, I got the day off," said Blake Marnell.Early Tuesday morning, Marnell woke up and made the drive from San Diego to Arizona. Despite sizzling temperatures, there was no debating his wardrobe choice."I've purchased my brick suit last year to show support for border security and strong borders," said Marnell. In Yuma, just outside the Border Patrol station, Marnell stood and waited. This is Marnell's 11th time seeing President Trump in the past year or so. He just got back from the rally in Tulsa. During a rally in Pennsylvania last year, President Trump beckoned him and his border wall suit up to the stage. On Tuesday in Yuma, there would be no in person meeting, only a fleeting glance at a motorcade during a visit to mark the 200th mile of border wall construction."I think it's important to visibly support the president. All I want to do is hold up my sign as he's arriving from the airport, and to thank him for all the work he's done to keep our country safe," said Marnell.Marnell's journey to Donald Trump superfan status has been an unusual one. A disaffected voter, Marnell didn't vote in the November election in 2016, and didn't support Trump."Honestly I didn't think he was going to be effective," said Marnell. He says that opinion quickly changed with President Trump's actions on issues like business tax rates and border security. On this day, his whirlwind political journey brought him to Yuma on a hot June day."We were clearly able to see the silhouette of the president in one of the limos ... He saw the supporters out here for him today, and we saw him," said Marnell. 1790

buried under snow a mile away from their car, police say.Detectives say 74-year-old Richard Alexander, and his wife, 79-year-old Elizabeth Alexander, likely died of hypothermia.Neighbors Mike and Diane Haas found the couple Friday. They say they saw two figures as they left their house around 1 p.m.. As they approached, they hoped for the best.“He wondered if they were sleeping, so he got out and yelled at them and they didn’t respond,” Diane Haas said.“I said 'Sir, sir!' And of course they didn’t respond," Mike Haas said. "It came pretty obvious pretty quick, their skin color and other details that they were deceased. So we immediately called 911 and made sure not to touch anything."Detectives with the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said the Alexanders lived nearby. Their car got stuck last week in a storm that dumped 10 inches of snow on Ash Fork.“Eventually they decided to leave their vehicle,” Mike Haas said. “They were headed to our house we believe. But 100 yards short."The YCSO says a preliminary finding shows no evidence of foul play. For the Haases, it is emotional to think the couple was suffering so close, while they were celebrating Thanksgiving.“It’s sadness,” Mike Haas said. “You wish you could’ve helped. You could’ve saved a life perhaps. Maybe two lives.”According to the Haases, they found Richard Alexander laying on top of his wife, possibly trying to keep her warm.“It’s terrifying to think that she might’ve been alive under her husband,” Mike Haas said. The Haases say the tragedy is a reminder to always be prepared during extreme weather.“If they hadn’t left their car, I really believe somebody would’ve checked on them. People drove by them but everybody assumed this was somebody who got their car stuck, they called and got rescued. Nobody would’ve ever thought that they were out here struggling,” Diane Haas said. This story was originally published by Zach Crenshaw on 1920

as well as cars on the property. The abstinence of alcohol is a core belief of Muslims, and pouring alcohol on an Islamic place of worship is considered an anti-Islamic slur.According to Islamic Center of Tucson board member Maria Molina, people standing on the balcony of an apartment building next door were responsible."Alcohol-related incidents are a chronic problem for the Center," Molina wrote in an email. "ICT has suffered from vandalism, has been the target of glass bottles being thrown from neighboring apartment buildings, and congregation members have had their windshields smashed by projectiles thrown from the same apartment balconies.Molina also claims children at the center have been subjected to "racist remarks and obscenities" shouted at them by drunk pedestrians."The center is not only a place for peaceful prayer; it is the regular venue for children's classes, activities, and community events. These are frequently held both in and outdoors," Molina said. The Islamic Center is located less than a mile from the campus of the University of Arizona, and Molina fears that the start of classes at the college could lead to more threats against its members. "With the start of the new school year at the University of Arizona, we are extremely concerned that lack of attention to this situation will result in an escalation of activity. The situation needs to be rectified before someone is hurt."The center has faced regular vandalism since 1467
