SAN DIEGO (CNS) - An attempted murder charge was filed Wednesday against a woman who slit the throat of another woman at a Mira Mesa Walgreens store last weekend, in what has been described as a random attack on a complete stranger.Kelly Ann Green, 55, is accused in Saturday morning's attack on an unidentified 59-year-old woman, who suffered a five-inch laceration across her neck.Green faces 10 years in state prison if convicted of the attempted murder charge and a weapon-use allegation, according to Deputy San Diego County District Attorney Mary Naoom.The prosecutor said the victim was filling her prescription at the Walgreens at 10787 Camino Ruiz when Green approached her, grabbed her by the hair and cut her throat.RELATED: Mira Mesa family forced from home after multiple attacksOther store patrons and employees subdued Green following the attack, which was captured on ``gruesome and very disturbing'' surveillance footage, Naoom said. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A San Diego woman and former contract employee with the state's Employment Development Department was charged with a dozen federal wire fraud and identity theft counts Thursday stemming from allegations that she conspired with her prison inmate boyfriend to steal hundred of thousands of dollars in pandemic unemployment aid.Nyika Gomez, 40, was employed by an EDD contractor as a call center agent assisting people in processing their unemployment insurance claims.According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Gomez submitted false unemployment insurance claims using personal identifying information she acquired from inmates, with the help of her boyfriend, an unidentified inmate serving a 94-year-to life sentence for murder at California State Prison, Sacramento.Gomez's boyfriend also allegedly helped her buy stolen personal identifying information from out-of-state residents to submit additional false unemployment claims.The benefits were allegedly paid out in the form of debit cards, which were mailed to Gomez's residence or the home of someone working with her. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man who was sentenced to nearly a decade in state prison for crashing a pickup truck over the side of a transition ramp to the San Diego-Coronado Bridge, killing four people and injuring several others when it landed in Chicano Park below, was released from state prison Friday.Richard Anthony Sepolio, 28, was released Friday morning after serving two years and 10 months of his nine-year, eight-month sentence, the San Diego County District Attorney's Office confirmed.Sepolio was convicted by a jury last year of four counts of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and one count of DUI causing injury. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A suspect was detained by police Saturday in Thursday's fatal stabbing of a man in a Midway District strip mall.The stabbing was reported at around 8 a.m. Thanksgiving Day in the 3100 block of Sports Arena Boulevard, according to San Diego Police. The unidentified 55-year-old victim was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to SDPD Lt.
