SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - California's stay at home order may be in effect, but you can still hear the sounds of heavy machinery and hammers banging across San Diego County.Construction was deemed essential, allowing builders to continue working."Not only have we been able to pull permits, but we can call our inspections," said Gregg Cantor with Murray Lampert Design, Build, Remodel.Companies like Cantor's business have changed, but it keeps moving.He said employees who can are working from home, client calls are happening remotely, and inspections are taking place at a distance or in some cases through videos and pictures."We're conscious of social distancing as well as making sure we don't have more than five or six people at any given time on the job site," Cantor said.Local companies aren't the only ones changing how they operate.The City of San Diego's Development Services Department (DSD) laid out a series of changes to protect city staff and customers."The city is taking necessary preventative safety measures while being responsive to the business needs of our customers," said DSD Director Elyse W. Lowe. "DSD employees will continue to work with customers to limit delays to project approvals and keep the city moving forward. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Arthur Soriano didn't have that privilege until the age of 40, and now advocates about the power of voting.Seven years ago, Soriano was released from prison after serving a 19-year sentence for attempted murder."I needed that sense of belonging and I found it in gangs," Soriano said.He grew up in City Heights, with a single mother, and two younger twin sisters. He'd been in and out of trouble since he was a teenager. And of course, lost his opportunity to vote. But he turned his life around in prison."I went to college while I was in there so I self-educated while I was in prison. There was always aspirations of me wanting something better," says Soriano.That something better was a grassroots community organization he created in City Heights called Youth Empowerment. Soriano now helps to provide services for formerly incarcerated men and women.And four years ago at the age of 40, after serving his probation, Soriano voted for the first time."It was exciting, it was new, a new experience. But I felt the power of using my voice, of having that platform of my voice counts," Soriano said of voting in 2016.Now, with the opportunity to have a direct influence on others in his community, Soriano also shares his message about the privilege of voting, and the power it can have."I have a place at the table, I have a voice, I have something I can bring. That's the message that I have for the community. If we come together with your voice, no matter what opinion that may be, you can make a difference," says Soriano. 1556

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — As if San Diego's craft beer scene doesn't already have enough options, the legalization of marijuana has created new opportunities for companies interested in the world of the cannabis-infused.Enter High Style, a San Diego-based brewery launching a THC-infused, non-alcoholic beer called "Pale Haze." The drink incorporates the traditional flavors of beer using Amarillo and Cascade hops, as well as 10mg of THC.The beer has a "light, crisp, and extremely effervescent" flavor, according to the brewery, with notes of tropical fruit and citrus.RELATED: Blue Moon founder now brewing THC-infused craft beerHigh Style's Vice President of Marketing Jared Threw said the brewery's brewmaster worked over 12 months on the process to create the alcohol-free beer — though there are small traces of alcohol, as with most non-alcoholic beers.
