(KGTV) - A first-grade teacher at Sycamore Canyon Elementary has found a creative way to stay in touch with her students while everyone is staying home during the coronavirus Pandemic.Sarah Lathers is filming herself reading stories to her daughter, and then posting it online."I just think about my kiddos a lot, and I do miss them a lot more than I anticipated I would already," she says. "I care so much about their education and them as people. The idea of putting story time online seemed like an easy way to let her school kids know she was thinking about them.The videos already have hundreds of views. Parents and friends are clamoring for more."Parents are putting comments below saying that the kiddos were so excited to see me," Lathers says. "The kids are showing it to brothers and sisters. They get tears in their eyes, at times remembering stories in class. (AP) — Orange County’s new interim health officer says he will lift a requirement that residents wear face coverings in public and instead recommend they do so to help reduce the spread of the coronavirus. (KGTV) - A Central California teacher, who also serves as a reserve police officer, was placed on administrative leave after accidentally firing his gun inside a classroom.Seaside High School instructor Dennis Alexander was teaching a public safety course for an Administration of Justice class when his gun went off, according to KSBW."Alexander was believed to have been providing instruction related to public safety awareness," Seaside Police told the station.One student suffered non-major injuries and was taken to the hospital. According to the school district, Alexander was pointing his gun toward the ceiling when it went off.Alexander was also placed on administrative leave at the Sand City Police Department, KSBW reported."I have concerns about why he was displaying a loaded firearm in a classroom.
