EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- An El Cajon Police officer is recovering after being hit in the head with a hammer during a foot pursuit with a suspect. According to police, the incident happened near West Douglas Avenue and Van Houten Avenue. Police responded the scene after a suspect, later identified as Robert Dille, 30, reportedly shattered several windows at a Jack in the Box while trying to rob an armored truck making a delivery. Once they arrived, officers chased the suspect on foot. During the chase, Dille struck an officer in the head with a hammer after a Taser was ineffective. The officer was taken to the hospital before being treated and released.  711

(KGTV) - The man accused of hitting and killing a jogger in Lakeside appeared in court Tuesday for a bail hearing.Michael Woodfill is charged with second-degree murder and gross vehicular homicide for the crash Monday that killed 41-year-old Susana Gotell. (KGTV) — El Cajon City Council voted Friday not to make any changes in how the city enforces the county's coronavirus public health orders.Thursday, Mayor Bill Wells called for the special meeting to discuss stopping El Cajon Police from enforcing public health measures around facial coverings and distancing.City Council leaders said the city would continue enforcing the rules as they have on a case-by-case basis, according to the mayor.
