Police in Hampton, Virginia are investigating after 119 MacBook Air laptops were reported stolen from an elementary school.Officers were called to Phenix Elementary School on August 17.Police say two unidentified suspects broke into the school through a window shortly after 3 a.m. and made off with the computers.23-year-old Averi Wilkins of Hampton was charged with one count of possession of stolen property in connection to the case.Wilkins tells News 3 he buys and sells used electronics all the time and didn’t know the laptops had been stolen. He’s scheduled to be in court Tuesday.Hampton Schools says the stolen laptops have not been recovered. 661

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. -- A woman was arrested for child abuse on Sunday after deputies say she placed a 3-year-old girl unbuckled in the front seat of her vehicle and slammed on the brakes, sending the child into the windshield. Officials say that Justine Olesky, 33, was in a physical altercation with her boyfriend while the child was standing next to her. Once the boyfriend left, Olesky picked up the child and placed her in the front passenger seat without a seatbelt or car seat, according to the arrest affidavit.Pinellas County deputies say that the child is 3-years-old and weighs approximately 35 pounds.Deputies say that Olesky then proceeded after her boyfriend and accelerated to high speeds in a residential neighborhood. A witness saw the child in the front seat of the vehicle when they say Olesky was driving roughly 90 mph through the neighborhood. Once she saw her boyfriend, deputies say she slammed on her brakes causing the child to be ejected forward. This caused the child's head to strike the windshield at such a high force it shattered the windshield roughly 20 inches in diameter.Deputies say that blonde strands of hair were left in the glass from the child. According to the arrest affidavit, Olesky did not appear to be concerned for the child and continued to talk about her boyfriend even when deputies brought up the child's safety. Olesky was arrested for child abuse and domestic battery.Post Miranda, deputies say that Olesky told law enforcement that she does not remember and denies the incident. She did say that the window was not shattered prior to the incident, according to the arrest affidavit.The child was transported to the hospital. PALA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A family dog missing after a deadly crash in Pauma Valley Friday was reunited with its family after being located by firefighters Sunday.Cal fire said firefighters and the San Diego County Department of Animal Services returned to the scene after the crash in an effort to locate the dog.“After lots of hiking through thick brush, the mission was a success and the family was reunited with their pet,” Cal Fire said.“We're with our community members on some of their worst days...and we'll always be there, doing everything we can help make things better,” the agency continued.The crash happened early Friday morning, killing a mother and injuring her 11-year-old son and his father.Crews responded to the scene of the crash after the vehicle was found overturned on an embankment near State Route 76 between Palomar Mountain and Oceanside.The man and child are expected to recover. 914

(CNS) - With the coronavirus pandemic still raging in Southern California, the 2021 Rose Parade was officially canceled Wednesday, but the fate of the Rose Bowl Game remains in limbo."The health and well-being of our parade participants and guests, as well as that of our volunteer members, professional staff and partners, is our number one priority," Bob Miller, president of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association said in a statement. "Obviously this is not what any of us wanted, and we held off on announcing until we were absolutely sure that safety restrictions would prevent us from continuing with planning for 132nd Rose Parade."It's only the fourth time since 1891 that the parade has been canceled, with the three previous cancellations occurring during the wartime years of 1942, 1943 and 1945.Although the New Year's Day tradition was technically still months away, planning for the elaborate floral floats that highlight the event -- and arranging for the often international travel of participating marching bands and equestrian groups -- is a nearly yearlong process, necessitating an early decision on whether to hold the event. Tournament of Roses officials noted that the state's economic-reopening guidelines appear to be a long way off from permitting large public gatherings such as a parade.David Eads, Tournament of Roses executive director/CEO, said planning is continuing for the Rose Bowl Game, but uncertainty still looms over the college football season."We continue to work with the College Football Playoff and our collegiate partners to explore what this year's college football season will look like amidst COVID-19 and social distancing guidelines," Eads said in a statement. PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — A nursing assistant in Pasco County, Florida was arrested after allegedly molesting a disabled female who she was tasked with caring for.Christina Nappo is charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of an elderly person.She was caring for an elderly and disabled woman described as having serious brain trauma and the mentality of a 10-year-old.She is accused of committing inappropriate acts with a shower head. Deputies say that being a CNA, Nappo reasonably knew the victim either lacked the ability to give consent or failed to give consent.She is also accused of teaching another CNA how to do the same thing.Nappo was arrested without incident and taken to Land O' Lakes detention facility. 742
