SAN MARCOS, Calif. (KGTV) — CAL FIRE San Diego firefighters quickly knocked down a brush fire in San Marcos on Thursday, amid Santa Ana winds and dangerous fire weather conditions throughout the county.The 3-acre fire, dubbed the Sycamore Fire, ignited near Sycamore Dr. and Cox Rd. just before 12:30 p.m., according to CAL FIRE. Fire crews reported the fire began in heavy fuel and had a moderate rate of spread, but were able to halt its spread within about 30 minutes.Firefighters will remain on the scene for several hours to mop-up and further contain the fire.Thursday, dry Santa Ana winds created high fire danger throughout the county. A Red Flag Warning was in effect Thursday through 10 p.m. on Saturday for the county's valleys, foothills, and mountains. The combination of near-record low fuel moisture, strong winds, and low humidity dropping between 6 and 12% will create critical fire conditions.A High Wind Warning will be in effect for the same areas until 6 p.m. on Thursday. Northeasterly wind gusts of 30 to 60 mph are expected with isolated higher gusts in the wind-prone areas. Winds will be strong enough to bring down trees and power-lines.At least 70,000 San Diego Gas & Electric customers were without power Thursday morning due to public safety power shutoffs amid the high winds. 1319

Dayleen Coleman, the owner of D'liteful Chocolat in San Marcos, is fortunate enough to spend her days creating with chocolate. Coleman calls working with chocolate an art, but she will be the first to tell you, she's not a chocolate maker, she's a chocolatier."We all have are own little specialties when working with chocolate. It's a way to express yourself. You're taking a product and then you are creating with it," Coleman said.But while she continues to produce delectable chocolates, like truffles and other goodies, the current pandemic has forced her to take a new approach to sell her sweets."I love to teach, and that's been my passion. We had to stop our classes for the longest time. I also work with wineries as well, and it all stopped," Coleman said.While D'liteful Chocolat has continued their online sales, they found one way to create more income by starting a membership club. The thinking is, a little chocolate may create happiness for their customers."People wanted to something to still celebrate," says Coleman. "So that's how we came up with our boxes. We started curating these boxes and decided to start a club. Once a month we can do something creative and be completely different."The best part of these membership boxes is that the customers can choose the chocolates of their choice. 1452

SEATTLE, Washington — Calling all Harry Potter fans: Seattle, Washington’s coolest dad has created a wizarding world and we got a look inside this real-life version of Diagon Alley before it began its journey to a new home to help children.Johnathan Chambers said his kids always wanted him to create something special for Halloween."I posed a question to my girls, 'What can we do for Halloween or Christmas?' It was in the summer, to like go big. And one of them said, 'Diagon Alley'," he said.Chambers was fully committed to making this the best Diagon Alley fans had ever seen, but he had to leave his job to accomplish this project.  He decided to create the real-life Diagon Alley in his driveway. Chambers has been a creative director for more than 20 years and focusing on the details was his forte.At this Diagon Alley, muggles are allowed in. They walk into a magical filled with an assortment of shops and items on Hogwarts'  supply list. There is Olivander’s Wand Shop, Eyelops' Owl Emporium, Madam Malkin’s Robes for all Occasions and Flourish and Blotts where students buy their school books.Once word got out about the Diagon Alley Project, fans from around the world flocked to see this wizarding world in Washington.“They walk in the door and some of them have burst into tears. It’s been incredible," Chambers said.From overzealous screams, hysterical cries and a few marriage proposals, the Diagon Alley Project became a bigger success than Chambers ever imagined.As thousands of muggles roamed through their fantastical getaway, Chambers and his family realized they had an opportunity to make an even bigger difference. They decided to collect donations from visitors to raise money for cancer research. SAN MIGUEL COUNTY, Colo. -- A husband and wife from Florida were killed in a small plane crash Monday in Colorado, just days after their wedding.According to the San Miguel County Sheriff's Office in Colorado, the victims in the crash were identified as Costas John Sivyllis, 30, and his wife of four days, Lindsey Vogelaar, 33, both of Port Orange, Florida.Deputies said the couple was leaving Colorado to return to Florida in a privately owned Beechcraft Bonanza when it crashed in the Ingram Basin east of Telluride, where they were married Oct. 1.Sivyllis, a United Airlines pilot and flight instructor, and Vogelaar, who also worked in the airline industry, were the only people on board. 701

(KGTV) - Hundreds gathered at a park in San Ysidro in support of the migrant caravan just hours before border officials closed the border.A group called the San Diego Migrant and Refugee Coalition organized the Sunday rally that eventually turned into a march. About 600 people joined the coalition which is made up of 20 migrant support and social justice groups. The organizers say they disagree with the militarization of the border and want the migrants to know they are loved and welcome. The march ended peacefully at the San Ysidro Port of Entry.  606
