It's a completely online business and in 2020 sales skyrocketed,"The e-commerce side just blew up," she said.The business is rooted in Mexican tradition, which is how she describes her bags, "very traditional Mexican bag, they’re made from recycled plastic. They’re the kind of bag our grandmothers used to use for the market."Many like the fact the bag is pandemic friendly."You can wash them, Lysol it, wipe it down with a Clorox wipe, it’s easy," she said.But, her small business hit a big shipping problem."At one point I just had dozens of lost packages, throughout the system and it didn’t matter if it was UPS or USPS, it didn’t matter. Everything was just so strained," says Romero. CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A Chula Vista company that sells health and wellness products received a letter from the Federal Trade Commission Friday warning company representatives to halt alleged claims that its products could treat or prevent COVID-19.Youngevity International Inc. was issued a letter stating that claims made on the company's website or through social media posts "unlawfully advertise that certain products treat or prevent" coronavirus.The FTC alleges one such claim made by Youngevity "business opportunity participants or representatives" includes a statement that with certain company products, "your body will be able to withstand and eliminate Covid-19 and the vaccines forthcoming for Covid-19."The agency also states that a link on the company's website marked "FlattenTheCurve Shop Immune Support" redirects users to the company's online store, where various "immune support" products are available for sale.Phone calls made to the company were transferred to Youngevity CEO Stephen Wallach, whose voicemail mailbox was full Friday afternoon.The FTC's letter states that it is unlawful to advertise that a product can prevent, treat or cure human disease without scientific evidence or studies substantiating such claims, of which there are none for COVID-19 in relation to Youngevity's products.The letter to Youngevity was one of six sent to companies across the country on Friday. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Things got heated Thursday at a protest in Chula Vista over a library's Drag Queen Story Time. Drag Queen Story Time, set to begin at the Otay Ranch Library September 10, inspired strong feelings on both sides of the aisle. Roughly two dozen residents against the event said they were concerned it would sexually influence children. "How dare anybody. We want to protect children. We want to protect our culture. That's not hate. that's love," said Arthur Schapper, a protester against the story time. "Adult entertainers as role models? What's next? Why not porn stars," he continued. As tensions mounted at Thursday’s protest, officers with the Chula Vista Police Department were forced twice to intervene. A speaker in opposition of the story time spoke at a podium as a crowd gathered, shouting “no justice, no peace.” As voices grew louder, a group of officers made their way through the crowd, separating the groups. "But they have not even stopped to talk to these performance, these people, these human beings who just happen to also be drag queens," said Kelly Hutton. Dennis Hodges, a pastor in Lemon Grove, came to the event to oppose Drag Queen Story Time, but said he regretted how tensions escalated. "I don't scream and holler at people. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A group of parents hosted a rally Monday evening calling on Chula Vista Elementary School District officials to reopen schools for in-person learning. Parents said they want the district to move forward with a phased reopening approach, a plan that was supposed to start on Oct. 26.However, the district halted the repoening plan at the beginning of October, citing concerns about rising COVID-19 cases in two specific ZIP codes -- 91911 and 92154.Parents argued that there is a safe way to go back to in-person learning, but they feel the district isn't ready. CVESD Superintendent Francisco Escobedo said he does want to get children back in the classroom and is hoping cases in those ZIP codes go down so they can reopen by the end of the year. He added that the district is still working with employee associations and labor groups in hopes of coming to an agreement so teachers can have everything they need to safely do their job. 976

(CNS) - An inmate was hospitalized with severe injuries after being found unresponsive in his cell at the South Bay Detention Facility in Chula Vista, authorities said Thursday.Around 4:20 p.m. Wednesday, deputies assigned to South Bay Detention Facility, 500 Third Ave., found the man inside his cell "with obvious signs of trauma," San Diego County Sheriff's Lt. Thomas Seiver said.The man, whose age and name were not immediately available, was taken to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries, Seiver said, adding that the victim was not expected to survive.The Sheriff's homicide unit responded and were investigating the circumstances leading up to the man's injuries. 716
