"Therefore, it is with great sadness that I recommend that Chunk be euthanized. The only way to guarantee that Chunk will be unable to harm society and family members is to have him euthanized. Chunk cannot make a decision for doing good vs. evil; that is a human construct. Chunk has not earned the death penalty because he chose to aggress. He did not know he was choosing evil. However, Chunk is a dangerous dog and society and minor children of this family need to be protected." 491

With Halloween coming up, there’s candy everywhere. It can be easy to go overboard on the sweets, but nutritionists say there are ways to indulge and keep your health in check. With around 600 million pounds of Halloween candy bought each year, registered dietitian Sara Scheler says some treats are more nutritious than others. Scheler says she recommends Reese’s over Snickers. “I prefer them because they have simple ingredients,” said Scheler. “There’s really just sugar, a little bit of fat, chocolate and peanuts, where Snickers has a much longer label and corn syrup as well.”What about M&Ms vs. KitKats? “I would pick KitKats over M&Ms. I don’t like M&Ms because they have all that artificial color along with them and they do have a lot more concentrated sugar.”SweetTarts or Nerds?“So SweetTarts are my pick over Nerds because Nerds have a slightly larger serving size even though that box is really tiny, it still has more candy in it.”Twix or Milk Way?“Between Twix and Milk Way, I would actually say that’s a tie. They have similar amount of calories, similar amounts of added sugar.”If you plan on indulging in a few pieces of candy over the next few weeks, Scheler also suggests eating them at a certain time.“It’s best to eat sugar, especially processed sugar, with a meal, so that our blood glucose level doesn’t spike as high. So, I would recommend having candy with your meal, right after your meal, or in between meals,” said Scheler.Scheler also suggests sticking to only a few pieces of fun size candy. 1549
(AP) — The U.S. communications regulator on Tuesday proposed a 5 million fine, its largest ever, against two health insurance telemarketers for spamming people with 1 billion robocalls using fake phone numbers. The Federal Communications Commission said John Spiller and Jakob Mears made the calls through two businesses that purported to sell products from major insurers but actually worked on behalf of other companies. State attorneys general of Arkansas, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, and Texas also sued the two men and their companies, Rising Eagle and JSquared Telecom, in federal court in Texas, where both men live, for violating the federal law governing telemarketing, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.According to the FCC, the robocalls offered plans from insurers like Aetna and UnitedHealth with an automated message. But if consumers pressed a button for more information, they were forwarded to a call center that sold plans that weren't connected to the insurers.Consumers weren't the only ones annoyed by the calls. The companies advertised in the fake calls also received angry calls and were the target of lawsuits from consumers. 1188
Canada legalized recreational pot this week and its dispensaries weren't the only ones with a business plan. A Girl Scouts Brownie -- and budding entrepreneur -- knew exactly where her best sales would come from.Elina Childs, 9, stood outside an Edmonton dispensary Wednesday and sold all her cookies to those enduring 4-hour lines during the country's first day of legal marijuana sales. In the past, Elina has sold her cookies door-to-door and that took weeks, her dad said."Last year, she got bit by a dog, it wasn't bad but we were still apprehensive," dad Sean Childs told CNN."While driving, we saw how long the lines were at the dispensary, and we just stopped to sell the cookies there."Elina sold out her stock in just 45 minutes, making a total of 0 (US )."She didn't quite understand what the big deal was," Childs said. "She was just selling cookies in her mind, but everyone was so happy to see her, and kept congratulating her."Weed has been legal only since Wednesday and Elina isn't the only one who cashed in on the munchies. The marijuana demand has been so high that several licensed cannabis retailers around the country have completely run out of pot,?reported CNN partner CBC. 1216
