CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A Hazmat crew was called to a propane leak at a home in Chula Vista Tuesday night. Crews at the scene tell 10News that a food truck parked in the driveway of the home was leaking propane. Initially the plan was to jack the truck so crews could access, but they were unable to do so. They're now planning to safely light off the propane until it burns off. At this time one home has been evacuated, others may be evacuated soon. *This is a developing story. 10News will continue to update as details become available.  595

CINCINNATI — Ohio State Representative John Becker, R-Clermont County, has announced that he has filed articles of impeachment against Gov. Mike DeWine.Becker, who represents the suburbs outside of Cincinnati, drafted the articles back in August to “restore the rule of law” back to the state.On Monday, 12 articles of impeachment were issued by him, along with Reps. Candice Keller, Nino Vitale, and Paul Zeltwanger.All of the representatives that filed the articles were Republicans, just like DeWine.The articles allege DeWine has abused his power as governor and has violated both the Ohio and U.S. Constitutions as well as Ohio Revised Code in issuing COVID-19 health ordinances.“Rather than hearing the cries of Ohioans, Gov. DeWine continues to stifle those cries by finding more inventive ways to use masks to muffle the voices of the people,” Becker said. “He continues to have callous disregard for the fact that his isolation policies have led to a shockingly high number of suicides, alarming rates of drug abuse, persistently high unemployment, and the forced abandonment of the elderly by their loved ones.” 1129

(KGTV) -- The Sweetwater Union High School District said Tuesday that it decided to end the employment agreement of Dr. Karen Janney, the district’s superintendent.Janney had been under pressure to step down following a multi-million dollar budget shortfall that prompted an investigation into possible misappropriation of funds.In June of 2020, the board voted 4-1 to place Janney on paid administrative leave.Tuesday afternoon, a district spokesperson wrote to ABC10 News that a new vote happened in a board meeting on Monday night. Video posted by the district only refers to the termination of an employee. Tuesday, the district spokesperson sent ABC10 News the following statement: "The Sweetwater Union High School District Board of Trustees provided Dr. Janney a 90-day notice to end her employment agreement, pursuant to Article 17b of that agreement. On behalf of the entire Sweetwater community, we want to thank Dr. Janney for her many years of service and dedication to the district, its board, and our students."Janney took over as superintendent of the district in 2015. Three years later, the district reported a million budget deficit.Also in June, a report from California’s Fiscal Crisis and Management Assistance Team reported that there was enough evidence that fraud or misappropriation of funds may have occurred within the district. The report stated that issues dated back to 2018.According to Transparent California, Janney's pay and benefits combined were nearly 4,000 in 2019. 1538

Children should be learning in classrooms.That was the message from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday, less than 24 hours after the Palm Beach County School Board reached a consensus to start the 2020-21 academic year with online-only classes."Educating our kids is absolutely essential," DeSantis said during a news conference at the Jacksonville Port Authority. "I have no doubt we can do this safely."Claiming that students across the state have suffered an "education gap" from online distance learning, he urged school districts to consider opening brick and mortar schools right away for the 2020-21 academic year."I want our kids to be able to minimize this education gap that I think has developed," DeSantis said. "In spite of good efforts with the online, it's just not the same. So I worry about that gap."The governor added he's concerned about the social impact that distance learning is having on children."There's something to be said for being in school, seeing people you know, growing up like a normal kid," DeSantis said.On Wednesday, the Palm Beach County School Board reached a consensus to start the 2020-21 academic year, which is slated to begin on Monday, Aug. 10, with online-only classes due to the ongoing threat of the coronavirus pandemic.A final vote will take place on July 15.DeSantis, whose three children are not old enough to attend kindergarten, said he would send them to elementary school if they were of age."I would not hesitate to put them in, in terms of the risk. Because the risk, fortunately for kids, is extremely, extremely low," DeSantis said.While the governor supports having children in classrooms, he did admit that exceptions should be made for students with significant health issues, and ultimately, the choice is up to parents."Different parents have different calculations. If a parent wants to opt for virtual education, they should absolutely be able to do that. Chinese spacecraft Tiangong-1 is tumbling out of orbit above Earth, and is expected to re-enter Earth's atmosphere uncontrolled this weekend, the European Space Agency said. The spacecraft will re-enter Earth's atmosphere between Saturday morning and Monday morning. Tiangong-1 was at orbit roughly 200 miles above Earth after it launched in 2011. Slight atmospheric drag causes spacecrafts to decay in their altitude. As a result, spacecrafts have to conduct regular ‘reboost maneuvers’ to maintain their orbit, the European Space Agency said. Since December 2015, controllers on the ground have been unable to perform such maneuvers to keep it in orbit. Originally the plan was to control its re-entry to direct the craft into an unpopulated section of Earth. With no one able to control the spacecraft, it will tumble to the Earth somewhere between 43 degrees north and 43 south latitude. While that means much of the United States could be impacted by the falling spacecraft the size of a school bus, the European Space Agency projects that much, but not all, of the craft will break apart in the Earth's atmosphere. “Owing to the geometry of the station’s orbit, we can already exclude the possibility that any fragments will fall over any spot further north than 43oN or further south than 43oS,” says Holger Krag, Head of ESA’s Space Debris Office.The European Space Agency will be providing updates as it better projects when and where the spacecraft tumbles out of space and back to Earth.  1547
