A Lyft driver accused of sexually assaulting a customer on April 24 has been arrested, police say.The woman told police that she had been sexually assaulted in the city of Pontiac, Michigan. At 5 p.m. on April 24, the victim contacted a Lyft driver she had previously used. The driver claimed he was the owner of a health spa and would give her 0 if she let him give her a massage and filled out a survey evaluating the massage afterward.The victim said Hanif also encouraged her to drink from an already opened container of Four Loko, an alcoholic beverage. She arrived at the alleged spa and said she felt as if she was 'buzzed.' At the end of the massage, the victim said Hanif offered her ,000 in exchange for sexual intercourse. The victim refused, at which time she was sexually assaulted by the suspect, police say. After, Hanif reportedly drove the victim back to her residence.Hanif was arrested on April 25 and lodged at the Oakland County Jail after being interviewed by detectives. During the investigation, detectives discovered he was listed as a possible suspect in a different sexual assault incident that occurred in December 2017.“The Detectives assigned to this case worked quickly and methodically in order to give this victim the justice she deserves,” Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard. “We will never tolerate behavior from those who commit sexual violence. I commend this victim for coming forward as she may have brought closure for other victims as well. This is a reminder to review some of the newest safety features included in apps such as Uber and Lyft, which allow you to send your location to friends and family and call for emergency help quickly. Blue Bell’s customers included military installations.In March 2015, tests conducted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) linked the strain of Listeria in one of the Blue Bell ice cream products to a strain that sickened five patients at a Kansas hospital with listeriosis, the severe illness caused by ingestion of Listeria-contaminated food.At least three people in Kansas died as a result of the contamination, according to the CDC.The FDA, CDC, and Blue Bell all issued public recall notifications on March 13, 2015. Subsequent tests confirmed Listeria contamination in a product made at another Blue Bell facility in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, which led to a second recall announcement on March 23, 2015.According to the plea agreement with the company, FDA inspections in March and April 2015 revealed sanitation issues at the Brenham and Broken Arrow facilities, including problems with the hot water supply needed to properly clean equipment and deteriorating factory conditions that could lead to insanitary water dripping into product mix during the manufacturing process.Blue Bell temporarily closed all of its plants in late April 2015 to clean and update the facilities. A hospital in Orange County, California was locked down Tuesday morning after police said someone at the facility called and claimed to have a gun.The incident was reported just after 8:15 a.m. local time at the Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana, police said.Santa Ana police said they received a call from someone inside the hospital claiming to be in possession of a gun. The caller did not say anything further, police said.The hospital was locked down as a precaution while about 40 officers conducted a floor-to-floor search, including the facility’s basement and roof.  608

A Houston police officer was killed Tuesday and a second officer was injured on Tuesday morning in what Police Chief Ralph Acevedo called a "domestic violence-type situation."The officer killed was Officer Harold Preston, 65, a 41-year-old police veteran. Acevedo described Preston as a great cop "and a better person."According to Acevedo, officers were called to a home in the city's southwest side of the city by a woman who described herself as the estranged wife of the man who lived there. She said she was moving out and needed to collect her belongings, but her husband wouldn't let her in the house.When police approached the door, the suspect allegedly fired at the officers. Preston was shot multiple times in the head. A second officer, Officer Cortney Waller, was shot in the shoulder and is expected to survive.Several hours after police first arrived, the suspect emerged from the house and exchanged gunfire with police. The suspect, idnetified as Elmer Manzano, 51, was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive. Acevedo said Manzano will likely be charged with murder.Manzano's son was also injured in the incident and was transported to a local children's hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.KTRK-TV in Houston reports that Tuesday's shooting comes days after a Houston Fire Department Arson Investigator was shot and killed while doing surveillance in the northwest side of the city. 1432
