(KGTV) - One of San Diego County's universities is among the safest campuses in the country, according to a new study.The North San Diego County college was named among the country's safest campuses by the National Council for Home Safety and Security, the school announced. (AP) — Southern California authorities say 18 pounds (8 kilograms) of fentanyl have been seized in Orange County — enough of the synthetic opioid to create four million lethal doses.The Orange County Register reports the seizure last week yielded almost half the amount of fentanyl seized by authorities in the county during all of 2018 — a sign the drug is quickly growing into a substantial public threat.Sheriff's officials say investigators served a search warrant and arrested 60-year-old Rudolph Garcia on multiple drug charges. (AP) — An active-duty U.S. Air Force sergeant accused of killing a Northern California sheriff’s deputy in an ambush-style attack was a leader for a military base’s elite security force. Officials said Monday that Staff Sgt. Steven Carrillo was a team leader for the Phoenix Ravens that protects airfields at Travis Air Force Base. Carrillo has been arrested on suspicion of fatally shooting Santa Cruz sheriff’s sergeant Damon Gutzwiller on Saturday afternoon in Ben Lomond, an unincorporated area near Santa Cruz. SAN YSIDRO, Calif. (KGTV) - Police are trying to determine if the gun in the officer-involved shooting was registered to the shooter.Around 1:30 Wednesday, police were called to a mobile home park in San Ysidro after getting reports of a man carrying a large gun. She said he was saying he had already shot his woman. No women were injured in the incident.Before police killed him, he shot an RV with five children inside leaving bullet holes on the front. Neighbors say luckily no one was killed. One neighbor reported getting under her table during the gunfire. The name of the man police shot and killed hasn’t been released. 10News talked to his sons today. One of them said they didn’t want to talk about their dad, but that their mom was doing okay and they are not mad at police for shooting their father.
