President Trump, at least for now, won't be able to do that in person.Trump had been out holding big rallies despite the coronavirus pandemic. His latest was in Minnesota on Wednesday in front of thousands, a day before he announced he tested positive for COVID-19."Rolling into the last month the president was planning to be on the campaign trail, in front of large crowds, where he thrives, the venue where he performs the best, and this is certainly an obstacle to that style of campaigning," said Thad Kousser, a political analyst at UC San Diego.Kousser said depending on what happens, an already political virus could make for different conclusions from each side."It'll confirm the worries that Joe Biden supporters had that the country and the nation and its president weren't taking the pandemic seriously enough," Kousser said. "If President Trump, as we all hope has a quick recovery, I think that will confirm the belief that the Trump base has that this is something that we can overcome."Kousser says he expects Joe Biden to continue to campaign on the road, but even more carefully.He says if either candidate were to become incapacitated it would make for an even more chaotic election because ballots will have already started going out.Kousser says each party has policies in place to select a replacement candidate should the need arise. (KGTV) - The developer of the proposed Newland Sierra project is promising to prioritize 500 new homes to first responders, military, veterans and teachers. The commitment was enough to earn the controversial development the endorsement of San Diego Police Officers Association on Monday. It's the third major public safety organization to endorse the plan, which heads to voters countywide in March. CalFire Local 2881 and the San Diego County Deputy Sheriff's Association are already backing the project. "Projects like this that are building those middle-income houses, especially the ones that prioritize us, we're going to support them," said Jack Schaeffer, president of the Police Officers Association. Newland Sierra calls for 2,135 new homes in supply starved San Diego County. The County Board of Supervisors approved the project in September 2018, but a group of nearby residents and the Golden Door Spa nearby gathered enough signatures to send it to a countywide vote. It recorded a covenant on its land deed that requires about 500 of its moderately priced homes to be prioritized for people in those roles. He said it's only enforceable by the public and government if it's in the resolution that the county Board of Supervisors approved, which is heading to voters. (KGTV) — Some California theme parks have announced temporary closures this month to fight the spread of the novel coronavirus.Disneyland, California Adventure, and Universal Studios have all announced temporarily closing parks to combat the spread of the virus.Disneyland and California Adventure will close on Saturday, March 14, and remain closed through the end of the month. (KGTV) - Ten Navy SEALS and a sailor are being discharged after testing positive for cocaine or methamphetamines, USNI News reported Friday.The sailors failed a series of drug screenings in March and April, a spokesperson said.
