(KGTV) -- With both finalists in the race to become San Diego's next mayor being Democrats, a surprise, late endorsement by the Republican who nearly cracked the top two in the primary could help tip the balance in what appears to be a close election.Over the weekend, City Councilmember Scott Sherman endorsed Assemblymember Todd Gloria over fellow Councilmember Barbara Bry. In a Twitter thread, Sherman stated "After much thought, I can’t in good conscience vote for Barbara Bry. She is inauthentic, inconsistent, and untrustworthy."Sherman went on to say that he had disagreements with Gloria on the issues, but praised him for consistency and authenticity. In an interview with ABC 10News, Gloria said he was grateful for Sherman's endorsement. "Clearly we’re from different political parties and we disagree on many, many issues. But at the end of the day, he’s casting his vote based on character. And what he shared is really meaningful to me.”Bry told ABC 10News she believes Sherman endorsed her opponent because she had defeated him in the primary, as well as in issues two faced together on the council. (KGTV) — The man accused of starting the Holy Fire in Orange County made his first court appearance Friday, though his arraignment was postponed.Forrest Gordon Clark was brought before a judge in Santa Ana, a day after refusing to leave his jail cell to be arraigned. Video of the proceedings shows Clark making several outbursts during the hearing, including calling the charges against him a "lie."He also insisted he was being threatened.HOLY FIRE: 464

A 14-year-old student at Anchor Bay High School in Fair Haven, Michigan was suspended and then faced expulsion after reporting a possible threat to the app OK2SAY.The teen's 10-day suspension ended on Monday night, with an expulsion hearing in front of the school board.  Dozens of supporters showed up with signs.The hearing lasted nearly six hours, with attorneys on both sides questioning school administrators, the school resource officer and the boy's parents. The ninth-grader used the app to anonymously report that he overheard someone saying they were going to shoot up the school. The FBI was able to identify the teen, according to attorney Calvin Luker who now represents the teen's family as they fight to stop the school board from expelling him. While Joseph McDonald, principal of Anchor Bay High School, said he cannot comment on a student's discipline, he said, in general, action can be taken against a student who knowingly reports false information. The teen has not been charged with any crime, and Saint Clair County Sheriff investigators say there was not enough evidence to obtain charges against the person who reportedly made the threat.Luker said the teen thought he was doing the right thing by reporting what he overheard, but instead of being praised for his bravery, the teen was suspended for ten days. The school board unanimously decided to dismiss the expulsion, but recommended law enforcement review the original threat.   1543

(KGTV) — The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says voters who may be sick or in quarantine due to COVID-19 on Election Day should take steps when breaking quarantine to vote.The agency says that any COVID-19 patients who head out to vote should ear a mask, stay at least six feet away from others, wash their hands and use hand sanitizer before and after voting, and let poll workers know that they are sick when arriving at the polling location."Voters have the right to vote, regardless of whether they are sick or in quarantine. Voters who are sick or in quarantine should take steps to protect poll workers and other voters," the CDC says.The CDC also recommended that patients bring their own supplies to vote, including pens and sample ballots or registration forms.The CDC's recommendations for all voters can be read online. 850
