San Diego (KGTV) -- Hotel guest jolted awake after the Howard Johnson by Wyndham caught fire, early Tuesday morning.The fire erupted around 4:15 a.m. on El Cajon Blvd in the College East neighborhood.One of the rooms was destroyed, and two others were severely damaged, according to firefighters. At least 4 to 5 units are reported to be uninhabitable for various reasons.It took about 20 minutes to knock down the fire.One man staying in the unit right next to the fire, told ABC 10News he had to run right past the flames to escape.The entire hotel was evacuated, and everyone managed to get out safely. No one was hurt.Firefighters are trying to figure out if anyone was inside the unit when it caught fire. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Halloween fun will return to Legoland California this season with costumes, outdoor festivities, and delicious treats for guests.Legoland's Halloween festivities will bring the spooky season to Miniland U.S.A., a scavenger hunt, LEGO building activities, and good bags filled with cady on Oct. 2-4, 9-11, 16-18, 23-25, and 30 and 31.Character meet-and-greets will also be held and families will be able to dig into some delectable eats at Smoke House BBQ and NINJA Kitchen.Of course, the park will be dressed to impress in its best Halloween decor and young visitors are invited to dress up as well.Tickets for Legoland's special outdoor experience start at .99 and guests will be required to purchase tickets online in advance to reserve access.To protect guests from the spread of the coronavirus, capacity at Miniland will be reduced, cashless payment options will be used, social distancing measures will be in place, and regular sanitation and cleaning will be performed.Face coverings will be required for all guests three years old and up and park employees.The park's event will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Fridays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays. 1246
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Driving on roads in San Diego during the holiday season can be a headache, as residents and tourists alike deal with increased traffic caused by extra congestion. This year, during Thanksgiving week, the roads have been a little bit safer, according to statistics released by the California Highway Patrol. San Diego County DUI arrests and auto fatalities were both down from last year, for the time period between Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. and Friday at 6:00 a.m. Going into the weekend there have been a total of 21 DUI arrests recorded in San Diego, a decrease from 27 arrests from 2017. RELATED: Check 10News?traffic updatesThe results are also reflected across the state, where the 294 DUI arrests are down from 386 a year ago. There have been no fatal car accidents in San Diego, compared to one at this time last year. Across the state there were 17 car accidents resulting in death, compared to 19 in 2017.
