If passed, she will be left to rely on what the rideshare companies said they will provide.“A lot of times we spend driving a passenger maybe to a remote area and we have to get back to where we live or where there’s people, and we don’t get paid for that time. And none of the benefit goes towards that time either,” Ettesvoll said.Prop. 22, which is heavily funded by companies like Uber and Lyft, would consider app-based drivers as independent contractors.Al Porce is a driver who supports the measure. If it passes, he said he’ll be able to control who he works for, for how long, and where.“Times are great right now. I’ve been driving all year. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police are looking for the thief who committed a brazen robbery at a South Park metaphysical shop, stealing a ,000 crystal ball in broad daylight in front of store staff and other customers.The theft occurred Monday afternoon around 12:30 p.m. at Crystal Blue Vibrations, San Diego Police said. "This was a lot worse than we thought," co-owner Andrew Lucas told 10News. "That's when we went to the video tape and it showed everything."The thief could be seen casually walking through the store, chatting with an employee behind the counter. He then walked over to the front display, which included several large crystal spheres. He reached in to grab an expensive one, but knocked over a shelf, leaving shattered glass all over and drawing the attention of the employee. However, it appears the employee did not realize the man was attempting to steal the item. While the employee was focused on cleaning up the mess, the the thief can be seen grabbing the crystal ball, placing it on the ground, dribbling it like a soccer ball to the front door, then bending over to pick it up and walk out. "I thought I'd seen it all," Lucas said. "Yeah, it's pretty brazen. It's heartbreaking."Lucas says he plans to limit how much access customers have to certain items in the future. "And more security, but I guess that's what the world is coming to."A police report has been filed. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- More than a dozen men were arrested after Border Patrol says they tried to enter the US illegally by boat Monday morning. According to Border patrol, the first incident began around 12:30 a.m. Monday when the US Coast Guard spotted a 23-foot-long vessel with four men onboard roughly six miles off the coast of Mission Bay. All the men, who were determined to be Mexican nationals, were taken into custody for entering the US illegally. Around 3:30 a.m. Monday, the Coast Guard found a small panga-style boat off the Imperial Beach pier with nine men onboard. The nine people aboard the boat admitted to being Mexican nationals and were all taken into custody, according to the agency. 714
