SAVANNAH, Tenn. — A Tennessee mother and her boyfriend have been accused of force-feeding batteries to a small child.A grand jury indicted the two adults – 21-year-old Kristina Thompson and 19-year-old Lucas Todd – in the case. They’re accused of forcing a child under the age of 8 to eat several AA and AAA batteries with the intention of causing serious bodily harm. The child also suffered several bruises and fractured bones. (KGTV) -- Schools in the Grossmont Union High School District reopened for in-person learning Tuesday, allowing students back on campuses for the first time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March.A large number of students began in-class instruction on Tuesday, but there were many others who chose to remain at home for distance learning.ABC 10News was at Santana High School in Santee on Tuesday morning as students with masks on trickled onto campus. Each student underwent a health screening before heading into their classrooms.Under the district’s blended learning plan, reopening campuses to a limited number of students is step 2 out of 5. Each school will only have 25 percent of students on their campuses. Each group will attend in-person learning once a week; the rest of the time they’ll be learning from home. SANTA ANA (CNS) - An Orange County pastor is due in a Santa Ana courtroom Monday on felony charges of molesting seven children ages 5 to 15.John Rodgers McFarland, who has been the head pastor at Orangethorpe United Methodist Church in Fullerton since 2014, was arrested on a warrant Thursday charging him with seven counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor younger than 14 and four counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor 14 to 15 years old.The 56-year-old Fullerton resident is accused of molesting the children between 2003 and 2017, according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office.McFarland, who's being held in the Orange County Jail in lieu of million bail, faces up to 179 years to life in prison if convicted, prosecutors said.RELATED: Pastor arrested by Escondido Police on suspicion of child molestationIn San Diego County, McFarland was arrested and charged in December with molesting a girl younger than 14 in Escondido between 2012 and 2013.
