(KGTV) - The man accused of carrying out dozens of rapes and at least 12 murders across California in the 1970s and '80s did not enter a plea at his arraignment Friday.Joseph James DeAngelo, 72, was arrested Wednesday in connection with the East Area Rapist/Golden State Killer cases.He was handcuffed in a wheelchair during his court appearance, and listened to the judge with his eyes barely open.In a frail voice, DeAngelo responded, "I have a lawyer." An attorney from the public defender's office was with him in court.He was denied bail.DeAngelo, a former California police officer, is charged in Sacramento County with two counts of murder in the 1978 killings of Brian Maggiore and his wife, Katie, and with additional murder charges in Ventura County. (KGTV) - Uber is expanding its role as a common ride-sharing platform into the healthcare sector in its release of "Uber Health," the company announced Thursday.Uber Health partners with healthcare organizations and is designed to provide rides for patients, caregivers, and staff. The primary aim is to serve patients, though, as access is available without a smartphone."Riders don’t need the Uber app, or even a smartphone, to get a ride with Uber Health because it’s all done through text message. Needless to say, one Sacramento-area California Highway Patrol officer was "shocked" to watch as an overstuffed truck nearly hit an overpass Tuesday.The South Sacramento officer was traveling on State route 50 when he saw the truck's mammoth haul, bags upon bags of bottles and cans, a CHP Facebook post reads. The driver of the truck was still traveling at freeway speeds, with the unsafe load still in tow.After watching the truck's load nearly collide with an overpass, the officer pulled the driver over off and told him to exit the freeway.The driver was given a lawful order to stay parked until he could off load the bottles and cans and transport them a safer way."If you are driving down eastbound US 50 and your load almost hits an over crossing, you might have an unsafe load!!" CHP wrote in a post.According to CHP, California Vehicle Code 2803(a) requires a vehicle's load "to be secure enough to prevent the dropping or shifting of such load onto the roadway." 1089

A 73-year-old woman who was struck by a stray bullet while sitting in her kitchen has died.Investigators say the bullet entered her home off Dunn Road in Riley Township, Michigan on Sunday afternoon.Detectives told Scripps station WXYZ in Detroit a neighbor was shooting target practice at the time. They believe he may have missed a large pile of dirt he was trying to hit.They have seized at least two rifles from his home.The woman was rushed to the hospital where she later died.Her name is not being released. Charges may come as early as Monday morning.  598
