One of the experts behind the study says he is shocked at how poor a job California does at regulating athletic safety."California is either dead last or next to last in all of these ratings of high school sports safety," according to Dr. Eric Post, an Assistant Professor at San Diego State University, who helped author the study.Robbie Bowers, trainer at Rancho Bernardo High School, says only about 60 percent of California schools have a certified trainer. With several sporting events and practices occurring for each school on any given day, it's nearly impossible even for schools with a trainer to have adequate coverage for all athletes.According to Post's research, that greatly increases the risks for student athletes who suffer an injury. "At schools with low athletic trainer availability, kids with a concussion were more likely to have that concussion go unidentified and also more likely to have that concussion be mismanaged as a result." Post adds that at schools with low trainer availability, an athlete with a concussion was often not treated until 24 hours after the injury. At schools with adequate trainer availability, athletes got initial treatment within 30 minutes.Bowers has backed previous efforts to create a statewide standard and certification; however, those legislative attempts have failed to pass. Between 2012 and 2016, the Brees family says Moradi sold them million in diamonds. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A Malayasian national faces voyeurism charges after a video camera was discovered in the bathroom of a San Diego flight last May.Choon Ping Lee was arrested this week and charged with video voyeurism within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States, ABC-affiliate KTRK reported.Court documents revealed on May 5, a passenger on United Airlines flight 646 from San Diego to Houston discovered a blue light flashing in a first-class bathroom. The woman took the device to the flight crew, who in turn brought it to officials at George Bush International Airport.Security at the airport confirmed the device was a video recording device, KTRK reported. Officials reviewed the device's footage to discover it recorded a man installing it in the bathroom, documents say. Airport surveillance connected the man's clothing with footage of him boarding the plane on departure and leaving when it arrived in Texas.Investigators said they also found footage on the device from another flight, where at least two women were captured on camera aboard an Emirates flight.Lee also works for Halliburton, which provided FBI investigators with Lee's travel itinerary and footage of him wearing the same jewelry as seen in surveillance video as well, documents revealed.The company issued a statement to KTRK, reading: "Halliburton is aware of the situation and is cooperating with the FBI and U.S. Attorney's office in their investigation. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to selling fentanyl to a 26-year-old La Mesa woman who overdosed in 2018, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.Uriah Odish, 28, was charged with Conspiracy to Distribute Fentanyl and faces 14 and a half years in prison with five years of parole.According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, "Odish sold more than 500 grams of what he knew to be fentanyl between 2017 and the day of the fatal overdose."Tiffany Hansen died from that fatal dose. Her mother Keri Cuppage said Odish apologized Wednesday, "he asked for forgiveness and said he was very very sorry that his decisions led to Tiffany's death."She replied, "my biggest hope is that the time served in jail will help him and he will be able to beat his addiction."She said Tiffany loved the beach and all things Disney. After she passed, Cuppage had her ashes formed into a sea turtle and placed at the Neptune Memorial Reef. The reef is an underwater memorial created to look like the Lost City of Atlantis, off the coast of Miami Florida.Cuppage said every day after Tiffany's death is a struggle. "Every time I get a joyful emotion, it's just a backwash of sad.
