SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A rare sight in Belmont Park - giant stuffed animals riding a historic roller coaster. According to the amusement park, the stuffed animals are being used the test the Giant Dipper. A spokesperson with the park says people passing through enjoyed catching a glimpse of the tests. The dipper has to be tested daily, but amid the coronavirus, the park had to get creative and decided to load the train up with massive stuffed animals. The tests come ahead of the coasters 95th birthday this July 4. The Giant Dipper was built by the Prior and Church Company in 1925 amid the Golden Age of wooden roller coasters, the park says. In 1976, the entire park closed due to financial difficulties. After the park closed, a group of San Diegans formed a Save the Coaster Committee and obtained a state historic preservation grant to help start the restoration, the park says. Later, in 1990, the San Diego Coaster Company was formed, signing a lease with the City of San Diego to restore the coaster. At last, it was restored at a cost of million, according to the park. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A researcher at the San Diego Museum of Natural History helped identify a new species of dinosaur, which was just added to the Anatomical Record.Dr. Ashley Poust made the discovery 10 years ago while on a research trip to China."There were a couple of features that immediately stood out to me, made me thing maybe we have something new here," he says.Dr. Poust says the shape of the skull and the presence of two long, decorative tail feathers made him think this was a new species."There's not any other dinosaurs that aren't birds, that we know of, who have long feathers like that," he says.Dr. Poust named the dinosaur "Wulong Bohaiensis." The word Wulong means "Dancing Dragon" in Chinese. The other part of the name comes from the area where it was found.A find like this helps fill in the gaps in how dinosaurs and birds evolved differently. Dr. Poust says Wulong was only about 1 year old when it died. That means it grew those long feathers much earlier than birds typically do. He thinks they could be functional, or it shows a major difference between dinosaurs and birds."You can't really answer those questions in California, but you can answer those questions in a place like China," says Dr. Poust.According to a release, the dinosaur was an early relative of the Velociraptor. It lived 120 million years ago and would have been about the size of a crow or raven.Dr. Poust says he's excited to share the new species with the world. The skeleton is on display at the Dalian Museum in China. It likely will not come to San Diego, as the specimen is too delicate for such a long journey. 1628

They will remember that they stood up for something that they believed in and they supported their teammate and they supported what's right in the world. And that to me is what matters more than anything," Loyal coach Landon Donovan said. "I love soccer, I love this game, it's meant so much to me. I love competing ... but, you can't claim that you have these values if you don't act when it really matters.”Martin came out as gay in 2018 while with the Minnesota United.RELATED: San Diego Loyal SC forfeits point due to racial slurThe slur was used just one week after San Diego Loyal said it would forfeit the point it received because of a racial slur used in its game against LA Galaxy II, after the club says midfielder Elijah Martin was the victim of a racial slur by an opposing player. 1423
