SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego Padres are looking ahead to the 2020 season with the announcement of the Padres FanFest at Petco Park. The annual preseason event will take place Saturday, Jan. 11.The Friar Faithful can enjoy concessions and a Taste of Petco Park sampling on the main concourse, a KidsFest area with games, a wiffle ball field, and a display with the new brown and gold uniforms. Other activities will be held on the field, including the popular ‘Fans Run the Bases.’ Visitors can also play catch in right field, catch fly balls in center field, and throw pitches in the visitor’s bullpen. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego Humane Society launched an investigation into possible animal neglect Monday.  The investigation is focused on the former Carmel Mountain Ranch Country Club.The golf course shut down in July.A spokesman with the Humane Society says someone reported that the declining state of one of the ponds on the course was endangering koi and other wildlife.Homeowners living near the course say they often smell a foul stench coming from the pond.The Humane Society says they’ve they’ve reached out to the owner of the country club and golf course.The Humane Society sent 10News a statement that says in part:"Because it is an open investigation, we cannot discuss details, but we take reports like this very seriously. We encourage anyone who has information relevant to this investigation to come forward and call San Diego Humane Society’s Humane Law Enforcement at 619-299-7012." 934

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The US Census is looking to hire thousands of people in San Diego, and hoping that /hour and flexible schedules are enough to entice people to apply."It takes a community to count a community," says Census Outreach Specialist David Bennett. "We're trying to count everybody once, only once, in the right place. We need help."Right now, the Census is putting on a hiring blitz around the country, with half-a-million jobs to fill. They're canvassing college campuses and other public places where people may be looking for a part-time job."It's for people, especially in this gig-economy, who are looking to get some extra money and be a part of history," says Bennett.Jobs range from counters who will go door to door to management. They can last anywhere from 6 weeks to two years. Pay starts at .50/hour."It's so important," says Bennett. "Our founders wanted to make sure our government looked like our citizens. That's why we do the Census."To be eligible, you must be a US Citizen, 18 years or older, and available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The wife of ex-NFL tight end Kellen Winslow II has filed for divorce, months after the former footballer was convicted of rape.Janelle Winslow filed documents for divorce on Aug. 30 in San Diego, according to records. The couple has been married for 13 years and have two children together.In June, Winslow was found guilty on three counts including rape, lewd conduct, and indecent exposure, stemming from accusations he raped three woman and exposed himself to two others.RELATED: Kellen Winslow Jr. tells 10News he's 'innocent' in rape caseThe jury, however, was deadlocked on eight other charges, including rape and kidnapping in connection with two other women. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Three animal rights activists have been banned from SeaWorld San Diego following a demonstration at an orca show this year.A San Diego Superior Court order issued Thursday banned three protestors affiliated with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) from entering SeaWorld San Diego and Aquatica San Diego, SeaWorld said in a statement.Included in that ban were Ricky Rodriguez, Lyanne Fernandez, and Lisa Lange, PETA's senior vice president of communications. "We said from the beginning of this case that a safe environment for our employees, guests, and animals is and will always be our top priority, and we will not tolerate this type of behavior in our parks."The three protestors are also legally prohibited from harassing, threatening, or committing violence against 10 SeaWorld employees named in the court documents.The court order stems from a July 24 incident in which the protestors disrupted an "Orca Encounter" presentation.
