A group of Republicans in the House of Representatives have formally nominated President Donald Trump for the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize.In a letter addressed to Berit Reiss-Andersen, the chair of the Nobel Committee, the group nominated Trump on the basis of his work to end the war between North and South Korea."Since taking office, President Trump has worked tirelessly to apply maximum pressure on North Korea to end its illicit weapons programs and bring peace to the region. His Administration successfully united the international community, including China, to impost one of the most successful international sanctions regimes in history. The sanctions have decimated the North Korean economy and have been largely credited for bringing North Korea to the negotiating table," the letter reads in part.The letter is signed by Indiana Rep. A Canadian judge who wore a "Make America Great Again" baseball cap in his courtroom has been suspended for 30 days without pay.A panel investigated complaints made about Ontario Justice Bernd Zabel stemming from an incident in November of 2016. The panel found that the judge wore the baseball cap into his courtroom, made comments about the U.S. presidential election, and also commented on his political views, as well as those of other judges. The panel also found that when the judge gave a public statement about that day in court, his comments were not consistent with what had happened.The panel hearing was held August 23, and the panel received 81 letters of complaint. Panel members also reviewed a number of other items, including an Agreed Statement of Facts, in which Judge Zabel admitted he "engaged in judicial misconduct." On September 11, 2017, the panel determined there was judicial misconduct, and suspended the judge for 30 days without pay. It's the most serious sanction permitted by law short of removing the judge from office.  1091

A Glendale, Arizona mother is speaking out after her daughter’s class was subject to an odd punishment. Brittany Trofy says her 7-year-old daughter and classmates were forced to walk in a circle on the Luke Elementary School playground last week as punishment. It was around noon that day and temperatures were likely in the high 90’s or even warmer.Trofy claims the march lasted anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes. She says her daughter told her about the punishment when she came home that day.According to Trofy’s daughter, several kids complained of headaches and cramps. "The school stripped me of my right to nurture my child when she didn't feel good by not letting me know she didn't feel good,” Trofy said. The Dysart Unified School District confirmed to KNXV that they are reviewing the teacher’s actions that day. We’re told that the practice is not “district approved.” However, a spokesperson says it only lasted around five minutes. Students were checked by a school nurse and none displayed any signs of heat exhaustion. The Dysart Unified School District would not elaborate if the teacher would be facing punishment or has a history of questionable decision making. A spokesperson told us they cannot discuss personnel matters. "My daughter is right now scared to go back to school for fear of seeing the teacher that got frustrated with them,” Trofy said. A police officer was informed of the incident. A family has closure on Memorial Day after a missing World War II bomber lost at sea nearly 75 years ago. was discovered near Papua New Guinea thanks to a Scripps Oceanographer and his team.Scott Althaus keeps a replica of the B-24 bomber which became the final resting place for his cousin during World War II."This was done by a professional model builder in Camarillo," Althaus said via Skype from Illinois.Lt. Tom Kelly was the bombardier on the crew "Heaven Can Wait." They were part of the famous squadron known as the "Jolly Rogers."On March 11, 1944, while on a mission to bomb Japanese anti-aircraft batteries around Hansa bay in the South Pacific, the 11 person crew was shot down by enemy fire."My family had been involved in what was then a four-year research project," Althaus said.They gave that research to Project Recover. The group of marine scientists, archeologists, and historians went to work using science and advanced technology to find missing aircraft with servicemen still onboard."It's really easy to look on a map and say, 'hey, x marks the spot.' And it turns out that x could be several square miles,'" said Eric Terrill, Co-Founder of Project Recover and a Scripps OceanographerIn October 2017, Terrill and his team set out on a three-week expedition.  "These robots allow us to do very detailed surveys of the seabed using scanning sonar," he said.After 11 days on the water covering roughly six thousand acres and talking to fishermen, they found the wreckage."It was a mixture of elation and sadness," he said. "It's very humbling knowing this is really a grave site of historical importance."Althaus' cousin was no longer just a name and a face in black and white."For the first time in 74 years, we've seen what his grave looks like and that is a priceless gift," Althaus said.Today, there are still more than 72,000 missing U.S. service members from WWII. "There are stories like this all around the country of an uncle or a father or a grandfather that never returned home," Terrill said. "It's remarkable to think that [families] carry this loss for that many decades and then to actually see it play out is just amazing."Lieutenant Kelly's family has already been in contact with the families of seven other crew members on the plane. A husband and wife were found dead in Wisconsin Monday morning, and now a search is on for their missing 13-year-old daughter. The parents' bodies were found inside a Barron County, Wisc. after someone called 911 for help before 1 a.m.Deputies said they didn't find any weapons inside. Deputies said the teen, identified as 13-year-old Jayme Closs, could be in danger. No suspects have been named yet, and the FBI is involved in the investigation. An Amber Alert was issued in hopes of finding Closs. The 13-year-old may have been spotted in Miami, police tweeted late Monday night.  621
