(AP) — The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill Wednesday that would grant legal marijuana businesses access to banking, a measure that would clear up a longstanding headache for the industry.The bill, called the SAFE Banking Act, passed 321-103 on the strength of near-unanimous support from Democrats and nearly half of Republicans. Even though she has no family history and does self exam routines regularly, she's been diagnosed twice with breast cancer."I feel like I have double the opportunity and double the responsibility to make sure I give other women the opportunity to become a survivor," said Breyfogle.A big part of that is help from the Susan G. Komen Foundation. All of the money raised during their Race for the Cure 5K stays in San Diego. This event helps pay for mammograms, biopsies, support resources, and other medical needs for those who need it.Shaina Gross, the President and CEO of the Susan G. Komen Foundation San Diego Chapter says, " We hear all the time where people have to pay for their medication or their rent. And we don't want anyone to have to make that decision."Added support, Breyfogle says, is helpful as you deal with a disease that affects six women in San Diego a day. VALLEY CENTER, Calif. (KGTV) — A fiery plane crash in Guatemala left a North County family without a husband and father. Luke Sullivan, 28, was killed after his plane crashed near Chimaltenango, located northwest of Guatemala City. Luke's wife, Ashley, says they had recently moved there three weeks ago, after Luke got his dream job, as a missionary pilot. He was working with a group operating in Guatemala. Luke would fly missionary personnel to various villages. He was working to become a missionary himself to speak to the different communities. His plane went down on Thursday, June 27. Ashley says he was making a landing, but something went wrong. "We were waiting for him, because it looked like he was just going to turn around, making a go-around approach," she said. "I hear an explosion and see more smoke." Emergency crews pulled Luke out of the plane before it exploded. His passenger had jumped out of the plane. Both men were severely burned. Luke was taken to the hospital but died overnight. His passenger survived and is currently being treated at a burn center in Dallas. "Luke was an extremely good pilot, and very experienced," Ashley said. She says he's been flying for more than nine years. "What we kind of pieced together — my father is a pilot also — is that something caught fire in the cockpit. It was very quick because I saw his landing and it looked perfectly normal." An investigation into the crash is ongoing. The Sullivans have three young children, twins that are three years old, and a one year old. His wife is also five months pregnant. The family has started a GoFundMe for funeral expenses. They've also started a GoFundMe to help pay for the family of the other man in the crash, to help pay for his hospital bills. 1783

(KGTV) -- A project that would create thousands of homes in San Diego County is heading to the ballot on March 3. If approved, Measure B, also known as Newland Sierra, would affirm the San Diego County Board of Supervisors’ unanimous approval of the changes to the general plan. The project includes 2,135 homes, 60 percent of which would be affordable for working families, according to Kenneth Moore, a spokesperson for the Yes on B campaign. The project would be built just off I-15 next to the cities of Escondido, San Marcos, and Vista. Newland Sierra also preserves more than 60 percent of the property as permanent open space. It would take another six to seven years to construct the entire project. Moore says construction on the infrastructure could begin as early as late 2021 or 2022. New homes would then start being sold and under construction by 2024. If the measure doesn’t get approved, however, Moore says that’s it for Newland Sierra. “Somebody could then move forward with the development of the current general plan zoning that allows a massive commercial development and estate homes," Moore says.
