An inmate was mistakenly released from the troubled Cuyahoga County Jail last week, in spite of the inmate telling jailers that he wasn’t supposed to be released.Not only did that inmate tell at least one jailer he was supposed to stay locked up, Administrative Judge John Russo said he also called a judge's bailiff and let him know about the mistake too.The confusion that led the jail to mistakenly release Fransisco Cruz appears to once again stem from an inmate with multiple cases in the system at the same time.Court records show Cruz was sentenced to 18 months in prison in October 2017 on domestic violence, drug, escape and theft charges.Nine months later, in July 2018, Cruz was released from prison and put into a transitional control program, a type of supervised release.While out, Cruz was arrested again on drug charges in May of this year and put back behind bars to finish his sentence. That prison sentence ended on October 2.The same day, Cruz was sentenced on the May drug charge.Judge Peter Corrigan ordered Cruz spend time in a substance abuse facility and ordered the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department to take him there.What happened next is still something jail administrators are trying to figure out.A spokeswoman said the state notified the jail that Cruz's sentence was over. He was released Friday and told to report to his parole officer.That’s when Cruz told a jailer they were supposed to take him to inpatient treatment, Russo told News 5 investigators. But that didn't happen.Cruz then called Corrigan's courtroom to tell the judge what happened, Russo said. A bailiff called the treatment center, but they said they could only take Cruz if the sheriff's department brought him.The county said the 36-year-old was taken back into custody yesterday when he showed up to meet his parole officer.This is at least the fourth mistaken release from the jail since spring. AURORA, Ind. — Twenty students and two drivers were injured in a crash involving a school bus and a garbage truck, according to Indiana State Police and hospital officials. The South Dearborn Community School Corporation bus was headed eastbound on State Route 350 just before 8 a.m. when it collided with a stationary Rumpke garbage truck near Mount Sinai Road, Indiana State Police Sgt. Stephen Wheeles said.Seventh-grader Dakota Jones was sitting near the front of the bus when it crashed."All I saw was dust. I heard noises, I heard people screaming and I went to the back of the bus, just trying to get away from this," he said. "And then, people were just — total panic. I was in shock."Twenty students aboard the bus at the time were injured, according to Dr. Richard Cardosi, medical director of Highpoint Health. The bus driver and the Rumpke driver were also injured, hospital officials said. None of the injuries were life-threatening. Most of the injured were treated at Highpoint Health in Lawrenceburg. Two people were transferred to Cincinnati hospitals, including one 13-year-old brought to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.The Rumpke driver, who was not in the truck at the time of the crash, was also taken to a hospital because he was injured by debris, according to Rumpke spokeswoman Molly Yeager. Four students on the bus at the time of the crash were transferred to another bus and taken to school, Wheeles said. A parent picked up one of those students at the school and took them to a hospital. Superintendent Eric Lows said most of the students on board attend South Dearborn Middle and High Schools. Students on the bus included those going to: St. John Lutheran School and St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, Moores Hill Elementary and the South Dearborn campus, which includes Aurora Elementary School, South Dearborn Middle School and South Dearborn High School, Lows said.Of the students injured, most were seventh- through ninth-graders. AURORA, Colo. – One of the deans of instruction at Aurora West College Preparatory Academy was arrested Thursday on suspicion of carrying a weapon on school grounds and carrying a concealed weapon.Tushar Rae, 30, was still jailed in Denver Thursday afternoon on a 0,000 bond following his arrest stemming from the case out of Arapahoe County, according to court records.Carrying a weapon on school grounds is a class 6 felony while carrying a concealed weapon is a class 2 misdemeanor in Colorado.According to an informed source with knowledge of the investigation, arresting documents detail a tense confrontation between the school's principal and Rae before his arrest.The documents show Principal Taisiya “Taya” Tselolikhina received a text at around 2 p.m. Wednesday from Rae, telling her to “meet in the office” after the dean of instruction didn’t show up to school the whole day and didn't inform anyone he was going to be absent.Once in the office, Rae reportedly placed a gun on a counter and said, “Try and f—k with me. You shouldn’t have said what you said. I don’t want to hurt you. I’m going to hurt all the people around you.”The documents also stated Rae then said he was going to “shoot the kneecaps off two other people” before asking the principal what she was going to do about it."I came prepared,” Rae allegedly told Tselolikhina before he patted his pocket adding that “he had two extra rounds.”The arresting documents show Rae then told the principal to walk away or he would “shoot the next person outside the door.”The documents then state two students were outside the office and the school was placed on lockdown.Aurora police tweeted Wednesday that West Middle School was on lockdown because of a threat of an armed party in the area. The department later tweeted that a suspect was taken into custody by Denver police.But communications made to parents following the incident tell a different story about the lockdown.A call from the principal made to parents on Wednesday stated that Aurora Public School officials and Aurora Police Department investigated a possible threat at the school and that “there were rumors of an armed individual in the area” – hours after the district, school administrators and the school principal were all well aware Rae was on campus allegedly armed with a gun and reportedly making threats.A second call from the school on Thursday afternoon stated that after school officials learned about the allegations, “we promptly placed the employee on administrative leave."Rae, who remains is jail, is not allowed on school grounds pending the outcome of the criminal investigation. 2654
