SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A University City postal worker is getting some well-earned R&R after 50 years.Elizabeth West has worked for the postal service since she was 18. She told 10News that postal work runs in her family and her dad was the very first postal carrier in University City.That's where the beloved employee has spent the last 35 years of her career. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A University City man is hoping to warn others after someone with a BB gun shot him during his daily jog.On Tuesday, 70-year-old Taurone was nearing the end of his daily three-mile jog northbound on University Town Center Drive just after 6 p.m."Very calm, enjoying the evening. Hardly any traffic out in the neighborhood," said Taurone.On the sidewalk near the Renaissance Towne Center, his calm jog was suddenly interrupted by pain."Jogging along and felt a sharp sting in the lower portion or my chin, so I stopped. It felt like an extremely large pimple. I was pushing on it, and something round and hard came out of my skin fell onto the ground," said Taurone.A stunned Taurone, who didn't have his glasses, didn't look for the apparent BB pellet."When I realized I what it was, and that I had been shot, I was very angry," said Taurone.Taurone, who was shot on the right side of his face, believes the shot came from the shopping center area. He briefly scoured the area but didn't see anyone. Bleeding from his chin, he jogged home. He's doing fine now, but he's still upset."If the shot had been 6 to 8 inches higher, it would have hit me in the eye," said Taurone.Taurone has no clue about a motive, but he knows he was the intended target."Makes sense because I was the only moving target in the area," said Taurone.Taurone has been interviewed by police, who told him they haven't received reports of similar incidents in the area. He's now worried about what may happen next, because of the boldness of the attack. San Diego (KGTV) - About a hundred people packed the auditorium at Crown Point in Pacific Beach Wednesday night to sound off about the deckles bikes and scooters invading their community.The PB Town Council held the meeting.  Representatives from LimeBike, Ofo, BIRD, and Mobike were present to take questions from the crowd.RELATED: Coronado to begin impounding dockless?bikes, fining companiesThe two main concerns dealt with encroachment issues and safety concerns. The dockless bike and scooter rental model involves people checking them out using an app, but after they’re done using them, they can leave them anywhere for the next rider to find and use.Many complained of the vehicles cluttering sidewalks, storefronts and residential blocks.Other say people are riding them illegally, either because they are too young, without a helmet, or riding them without where the vehicles are not allowed.“They have no regard for human life I think someone is going to die,” one woman said.“it's with anything new right? You have a couple of bad actors that don’t know how to operate the vehicle responsibly,” Zack Bartlett with LimeBike said. “The community seems to be behind the technology.  We’re also in 45 markets, so this isn’t our first rodeo. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Serra Mesa family expecting nearly ,000 in stimulus funds in April is still waiting.Mark Perry, who is married with four children, says his family was expecting a big stimulus check. Both he and his wife still have their jobs, but the check will come in handy."Really looking forward to getting the check. I was looking at a check coming fairly quickly, a direct deposit coming of 00," said Perry.Quickly, because Perry had the same bank account for the last 18 years, his IRS refund received via direct deposit every year, including one in April. Taxpayers like Perry should have received their checks during the week of April 13th, a week which came and went for Perry."Halfway through May, I realized something is really up here," said Perry.That's when Perry started logging onto the IRS 'Check My Payment' link, over and over. Hundreds of times."I probably tried a dozen times just last night. The result is always the same," said Perry.That result was this."Got an error message. Either can't verify or don't qualify. None of those things are correct," said Perry.Perry says when he called the number designated by the IRS for 'Economic Impact Payment' questions, he got nowhere."You end up in the same loop, back in the same place where you started from. There's no one you can actually speak to," said Perry.He's written politicians, and every day, he logs onto the IRS site. And he's not alone."I know of two other people in the exact same position I am. I'm frustrated mostly with the IRS website platform, which seems broken to me," said Perry.According to the IRS, 159 million Americans have received their stimulus payments with paper checks still being mailed out in June.An IRS spokesperson told 10news they are asking for patience from the public and continue to working on getting "up to speed" with the online platform. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Albertsons Companies confirmed Saturday an employee of an Escondido grocery store tested positive for COVID-19.The company said the store will remain open, and "will continue to follow an enhanced cleaning and disinfection process in every department."Public Affairs Director Melissa Hill said that the employee is receiving care and has not worked at the store since March 24. Hill said the Escondido store has been through multiple sanitizing and disinfecting cycles, and used third-party expert service.Hill said the store is monitoring other staff for symptoms."Following CDC guidelines, our Crisis Response Team may recommend that additional members of the store team self-quarantine. These employees will be eligible to receive up to 14 days of quarantine pay," said Hill.The United Food and Commercial Workers Local 135 President Todd Walters said they have been working with companies to get higher safety measures into the workplaces of members.He said three members of the union tested positive as of Saturday. He said they were all at different locations in San Diego County."We're encouraging and asking the members to 1. Make sure they get their social distance. 2. We want them to get time every 30 minutes to stop, wash their hands and clean their work stations," he said.Walters said Plexiglas has been installed at check out stands to protect workers at Albertsons and Vons, and next week Ralphs and Food For Less will see the same installation.He said employees are tired from the long shifts and urged the public to realize supplies aren't going anywhere. "Please don't shop unless you have to, there's no need to horde. If you see these retail workers, not just grocery, but our drug store members, or other retail entities, give them space. If they're trying to work and you need something, call out to them.
