After spending 602 days in the shelter before finally being adopted, Patches, an American bulldog, was returned to the Ashtabula County (Ohio) Animal Protective League Thursday. The American bulldog spent more than a year and a half at the shelter and required a very specific household. Ashtabula County APL thought that Patches had found the perfect fit when he was adopted in September, but unfortunately, it didn’t work out. Due to his extended time in a shelter, Patches does not do well with other animals. The shelter previously thought he would do well in a home with no male dogs or children, but have learned now that he doesn’t do well with any other animals or children. Ashtabula County APL said that Patches needs an owner with patience that is willing to work with him as he adjusts to life in a home after spending such a long time in a shelter. With the holiday season upon us, the shelter said there is no better time for a miracle and they hope it comes in the form of finding the perfect home for Patches. A strong earthquake has struck the west coast of Indonesia Friday, according to the United States Geological Survey.The USGS said the 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck just after 8 a.m. ET. It said the epicenter was in the Sunda Strait, 65 miles from the city of Tugu Hilir in the province of Banten, on the island of Java.The shaking was felt in Indonesia's capital city of Jakarta, 240 miles from the epicenter, prompting people to run out of their homes. The earthquake lasted around 40 seconds.The Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency issued a small tsunami warning for four areas following the earthquake.The agency lifted the alert just after 10 a.m. ET after there was no change in the sea water level.The quake also caused some blackouts, plunging some of the affected areas into darkness.The Indonesian National Board for Disaster said it was working with local authorities to evacuate people living on the coastline. The board told people in the affected areas to evacuate to higher places.According to USGS data and the Indonesia Tsunami Early Warning System, there was no tsunami threat to other countries along the Indian Ocean. 1174

A St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, family is questioning why a man is still in jail despite being acquitted on murder charges. Davien Bell was set free in October after he was acquitted in connection with a fatal shooting from March 2016, but shortly after he was released he was brought back into custody.Two months later he's still in jail. "He spent three years and eight months in prison..wrongfully," Bell's uncle Chanse Joubert said. Bell's family says those years are moments they can't get back. However, in October when Bell was set free they were hoping they could make new memories."He was free off all charges," Joubert said. "The next morning we received a phone call that he needed to go back to jail and be released properly." However, Bell hasn't been released. According to the District Attorney, he's being held on other pending charges. "On March 21, 2016 Damien Bell was arrested at the Yambilee building on theft and possession of an illegal firearm," Joubert said. "Two days later his father received a phone call that he needed to report to an interrogation station because they had evidence connecting him to the homicide." "He's been acquitted of murder charges and they're still detaining him based on something he allegedly did," Bell's mother Michelle Joubert said. "They could've handled that in court, during the three years he was there and they didn't."According to the D.A., it wasn't until after Bell's release that they realized he had pending charges. A Utah woman was arrested last week for putting her child in a hot car with the windows up.Police arrived at Draper Park within five minutes of receiving a call from bystanders about the boy on July 2 at around 9 a.m., Draper Police Lt.
