Bakala escaped from prison and took his family on a journey to America. On the way, their boat sank, and some of the children almost died. Once they got to America, Bakala was sent to Georgia. The rest of the family stayed in San Diego. Bakala went before a judge in Georgia who is known for being strict on asylum seekers. The judge ruled that he be deported. Meanwhile, Bakala's family in San Diego was granted asylum.Thursday, the day before Bakala was set to be deported, the family met in front of the federal courthouse to ask for help. Bakala’s wife Annie said, “I’m asking for your help because you know the laws and you are a champion of our protection. I’m asking for your strength because I have none left.”St. Luke’s Episcopal Church joined the family in their fight. Pastor Colin Mathewson said, “Bakala will die if we don’t help him. This is a life and death matter.”After the rally, the group took 500 signatures up to the federal ICE office. Congressman Juan Vargas has been very helpful in getting a stay for Bakala. Tumblr said in a statement to The Verge that the decision to ban adult content did not stem from that incident.Tumblr's new policy bans "explicit sexual content" and most instances of nudity. The site added that nudity "found in art," as well as nudity in the context of health-related situations and in the context of political protest or newsworthy events would still be permitted.Tumblr also says that written erotica will still be permitted on the site.After Dec. 17, any explicit content flagged by algorithms will be hidden from public view but not deleted from the site. (KGTV) - An unscheduled Veterans Day tribute played out at a cemetery in the North County.More than a week ago, local florist Jenelle Brinneman learned Valley Center's annual Veterans Day program had been canceled by COVID-19, including a ceremony at Valley Center Cemetery.She started raising money online and during her flower deliveries. In the end, she raised enough to place roses at the graves of hundreds of veterans."We have over 300 veterans that laid to rest here and we just wanted to make sure they are remembered," said Brinneman.Donors could nominate veterans for rose bouquets. One of those donors was the family of Robert Cronin, an Army veteran who fought in World War II in France and Germany. He passed away in 1992 at the age of 83."It means a lot to me to have him honored because he was a special part of our lives," said granddaughter Francesca Pappagallo.She says Cronin earned numerous medals, including the Legion of Merit for inventing a slide rule tool to increase the accuracy of cannons. Loved ones thought his rank was 'Colonel,' but after he passed away, a different truth emerged."They did a lot of research and he was actually a retired one-star General. Twitter has suspended far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones from its platform for one week.The news was first shared by an InfoWars personality, who tweeted a screenshot of Jones' Twitter account -- indicating the company limited some of Jones' account features temporarily.A Twitter spokesperson confirmed the authenticity of the screenshot. The spokesperson said the content which prompted Twitter to suspend Jones was a video published Tuesday in which he said, "now is time to act on the enemy before they do a false flag."On Friday, one day after a CNN investigation found that Jones' Twitter accounts appeared to have repeatedly violated the company's rules, Twitter said the accounts belonging to Jones and his fringe media organization InfoWars would remain online.At the time, a Twitter spokesperson said the company concluded that of the more than a dozen tweets included in CNN's Thursday report, seven were found to have violated Twitter's rules. Twitter would have required those tweets to be deleted, if they were to have remained up.But after CNN's investigation was published, the tweets cited in it were almost immediately deleted from the social media website. Jones said on his program that he had instructed his staff to do so and "take the super high road," though he contested whether the tweets violated any Twitter rules.Twitter is one of the only major social media companies that has not scrubbed its platform of Jones or InfoWars.
