SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The six hours of impeachment debate pre-empted television programming across the country Wednesday. Throughout the day, both Democrats and Republicans repeated the same points over and over again. Political analysts say that’s only expected to continue. “The president used the power of his public office to obtain an improper personal political benefit at the expense of America's national security,” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Pelosi kicked off the debate, summing up the argument to impeach President Donald Trump. The promises to the base matter, and today is a promise kept for the majority,” Collins said. Very rarely did either party directly respond to each other. “You are not going to convince the person next to you. They are not your audience,” said Thad Kousser, UC San Diego Political Analyst. Kousser says the way this is set up is purely for show. Different representatives are trying to reach their constituents, who may not be watching live. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego family of a Los Angeles firefighter who may have been kidnapped in Rosarito, Mexico, is speaking out.It’s been more than two weeks since 20-year veteran LA City firefighter Frank Aguilar was last seen after heading to his second home in Baja, California.“We’re hopeful. We haven't lost hope,” his local cousin Nancy told ABC10 News. She’s only providing a first name, due to safety concerns. “Nobody seems to know anything and it's very frustrating for the family to not know anything."On Wednesday, LA Mayor Eric Garcetti announced that his office learned from Mexican authorities that the 48-year-old firefighter may have been violently kidnapped from his Baja condo. “We will work tirelessly to make sure that Frank is returned safely,” he said in a news conference."[The mayor] did mention that he is going to provide all resources from Los Angeles to help get my dad back,” said daughter Amaris Aguilar.“I had just spoken to my dad the morning that we discovered he was missing. When he left for Rosarito, he was describing how safe or how good he felt in that community. He wanted to retire there,” added daughter Bella Aguilar.The daughters say that his condo was in a guard-gated community.His family has told reporters that his phone is off and they've heard that his condo may have been ransacked, his vehicles are missing and Ring video shows a troubling scene.“We're going to get you back. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – The owners of a Webster-area restaurant that has been broken into in recent days decided to set up their own overnight sting operation, and their plan led to two arrests.At around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, the owners of Trevi Ristorante on 4703 Federal Blvd., put together their own stakeout and waited for anyone who would try to break into the business.The restaurant had been burglarized three times in the past week, including one incident in which a safe was taken. Jonathan Romero, the owners’s son, told ABC 10News, “We’re tired of it.”While the owner remained on the roof, his son waited across the street and a family friend watched from behind the eatery.After several hours, they noticed an SUV park in an alley behind the restaurant and two men get out of the vehicle.As the family observed the two people go through gates to the restaurant’s back doors, the owner’s son called 911.San Diego police officers arrived at the scene and took one of the would-be burglars into custody.However, the other man climbed up the side of the building and ran across the roof. After jumping from the roof down to the front parking lot, the man ran away as officers pursued him.The man was able to cross Federal Boulevard, but officers deployed a stun gun and subdued him.The stunned man was treated at the scene for his injuries and is expected to be OK. 1373

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The San Diego Padres took a dozen teens undergoing cancer treatment to Spring Training this week.After spending months in and out of Rady Children’s Hospital, the teens say they were excited to get to experience what it feels like to be a normal kid again. “I have osteosarcoma, it's a bone cancer, it was in my leg, and I recently got it is surgically removed,” says patient Nicholas Herrmann. But today, lab tests and screenings are the last things on his mind. “It sounds so fun. We get to go out with a great group of guys and a great group of girls here.”RELATED: San Diego Padres sell out Opening Day game with Manny MachadoThe teens signed their honorary contracts with the Padres and grabbed their jerseys before heading to Peoria, Arizona. For three days, they will get to meet players, attend batting practice and a game versus the Cincinnati Reds. This is the first year for the program. Parents say this trip is an excellent way for the teens to gain independence and form friendships with others. “It's so hard for them. My son is not in school, a lot of other kids aren’t in school either, so they’re not having that social interaction all the time,” says Nichole Elliott- Herrmann. “For us just to see them have fun and have a smile on their face, and not having to go into the hospital is amazing.”Parents will be staying behind for this trip. A group of caregivers, including doctors and nurses, accompanied the teens to make sure they are in good health. 1500
