SAN DIEGO — Marvel's "Avengers: Infinity War" has just hit theaters, igniting a new wave of excitement over the studio's next installment set for theaters next year.But fans hoping to catch a glimpse of what's in store at San Diego Comic-Con International are out of luck. Speaking with Collider, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced there will be no Hall H presence at the convention in 2018."We’re not going to Hall H this year. It will be an off year… which is what we did after Avengers 1 and what we’ve done every few years," Feige said. "There will be a tenth-anniversary presence at Comic-Con but [no Hall H panel.]"Marvel has traditionally booked a Hall H slot on Saturday night of Comic-Con to make major announcements, tease upcoming movies, and deliver special experiences to fans. SAN DIEGO (AP) — Fans at the Holiday Bowl between No. 19 Iowa and No. 22 Southern California will be asked to do the “Iowa Wave” directed at patients in a children’s hospital in Iowa City as well as representatives from two children’s hospitals in Southern California who will be at the game on Dec. 27.The wave will replicate what has become a game-day salute at Hawkeyes home games to patients and family members at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.The salute started on Sept. 2, 2017, when more than 70,000 fans stood at the end of the first quarter and waved to patients and families in the children’s hospital, which rises above Kinnick Stadium. The patients and families waved back. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A group of San Diego high school seniors will be honored with other students from throughout Southern California Friday at the second annual Pacific Islander High School Graduate Recognition Ceremony in San Bernardino.Long Beach, Inland Empire and other surrounding regions will participate in the event, which will include cultural celebrations like a Polynesian fireknife performance and a Maori warrior dance.Siaosi Veimau, who immigrated to the U.S. from Tonga at age 10, will serve as the ceremony's keynote speaker. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 59-year-old woman suffered a fractured back when she was struck by a hit-and-run motorist in the Clairemont Mesa West community of San Diego, a police officer said Sunday.The woman was crossing westbound in the south crosswalk when she was hit a little before 6:25 p.m. Saturday by a vehicle that had been going westbound on Derrick Drive and made a left turn to southbound Genesee Avenue, said Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.Police had no description of the vehicle or the motorist. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Cold, windy, and rainy conditions have prompted the San Diego Housing Commission to activate inclement weather shelters this New Year’s Eve. The commission activates the Inclement Weather Shelter Program when temperatures drop below 50 degrees, the chance of rain is higher than 40 percent or in the case of sustained high winds. The program is a partnership between the commission, the city of San Diego, Father Joe's and Connections Housing. The commission also funds the program. Father Joe’s Villages tells 10News they can take in an additional 170 people this New Year's Eve, including children.They will convert two dining halls into temporary shelters, filling them with cots. “When you’re out there in the rain and you get wet and then this cold air, you feel a chill in your bones, that’s what those on the streets experience,” said Deacon Jim Vargas, President and CEO of Father Joe’s Villages. Homeless individuals will be given meals as well as dry clothes when they leave.
