Lutz, Fla. — The driver of a Tesla plowed through the wall of an empty storefront and then into the side of the Anytime Fitness on North Dale Mabry Highway in Pasco County, Florida.No one in the gym was hurt, although witnesses tell Scripps station WFTS in Tampa there were several people working out at the time, which was before noon on Sunday, April 22.The driver was also not injured.Florida Highway Patrol and the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.The driver told troopers and deputies that she was coming into the parking lot to stop at the nearby nail salon, and said she was pressing the brakes, but the vehicle kept accelerating.The first store she crashed into used to be a karate studio where kids would normally be working out, but that business recently re-located.Her vehicle slammed through a second wall, into the gym next to several treadmills.Authorities did not administer a sobriety test, according to the crash report.Tesla vehicle are equipped with what is called “Auto-Pilot” mode, but auto-pilot is not the vehicle’s mode of functioning, especially if the vehicle is not on a highway and is turning into a parking lot. 1179

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – One of the three Louisville police officers involved in the shooting death of Breonna Taylor is being fired.The city’s mayor, Greg Fischer, announced Friday that the police department is initiating termination procedures against officer Brett Hankison, 44.“Unfortunately, due to a provision in state law that I very much would like to see changed, both the Chief and I are precluded from talking about what brought us to this moment, or even the timing of this decision,” the mayor said in a statement.According to a termination letter obtained by WLKY, Hankison was informed of his firing Friday morning.The other two officers involved in the fatal shooting, 47-year-old Jon Mattingly and 42-year-old Myles Cosgrove, remain with the department, but have been placed on administrative reassignment, the Courier Journal reports.As part of a narcotics investigation, the officers used a battering ram to knock down Breonna Taylor’s door as they served a no-knock warrant in the early morning hours of March 13.During the incident, Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, has said that he thought the officers were intruders and fired a warning shot. The officers returned fire, shooting Taylor eight times, and she died in the hall of her apartment. No drugs were found.Thursday, Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron held a press conference, where he asked for patience from the public as his office investigates the shooting.Taylor's death is one of a handful of African Americans who have died at the hands of police officers or former police officers in 2020. Men tend to be more cautious about how much they share.They'll also only ask to do something together so many times before the invitation is returned.“We're just not socialized to feel comfortable. We don't want to seem like we are stalking another guy for a friendship. LUBBOCK, TX — A 9-year-old girl from Texas who has been missing since 2016 was found safely on Monday after the story of her disappearance was featured on the television show "Live PD".Mariah Martinez was last seen on October 18, 2016, when she was taken from her home in Lubbock, Texas.On Friday night, the A&E show had a segment that chronicled the events that led to Mariah's disappearance. According to Fox News, Mariah's mother, Amanda, was close to losing custody of her three children and decided to take them and flee instead of going to court.A court order was issued after Amanda’s boyfriend allegedly punched Mariah's 5-year-old brother in the nose and threatened to kill the family by driving their car into a pond.The Live PD segment explained that in January 2017, police were tipped off about the family's whereabouts. Police found Amanda and two of the children, but not Mariah.The mother was arrested on felony charges, but Mariah's whereabouts remained a mystery.The television program ended by asking viewers to contact the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children if they knew anything.NCMEC posted to Facebook on Tuesday that Mariah was found in New Mexico following a viewer’s tip.The Lubbock Police Department also released a statement saying they were thankful to NCMEC for helping find Mariah.  1398
