China has received information that US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin is considering a trip to Beijing to hold talks on the ongoing trade dispute, the Ministry of Commerce said in a brief statement on Sunday.
China is also planning to raise the budgeted deficit ratio, a proportion of fiscal deficits to the GDP, and issue special sovereign debt, the first time since 2007. Local governments will also issue more special bonds compared with the amount raised last year, to increase spending mainly in infrastructure, the top-level policy meeting said.
China is further opening up its telecommunication industry, with more access and favorable policies being granted to foreign players in the field, according to industry experts.
China is currently on course to loosen the cap on foreign ownership in joint ventures to attract more foreign funds to its financial market. The government had previously pledged to lift the limit from 50 percent to 51 percent in the insurance sector in three years and fully remove it after five years.
China has prepared and has the strength to safeguard national interests, but it also hopes that both sides could remain rational and work together to preserve the broad picture of China-US economic and trade relations.
