OCEANSIDE, Calif. (CNS) - Police identified a 43-year-old man armed with a machete who allegedly stabbed a police dog and broke a patrol vehicle's window in Oceanside.About 5 p.m. Tuesday, an officer was inside a vehicle, stopped at a traffic light on College Boulevard and Plaza Drive, when he saw the suspect, Noomane Trabelsi, across the street yelling at him, according to Oceanside Police Department Public Information Officer Tom Bussey.The suspect allegedly approached the vehicle swinging a machete and broke the driver's side window, Bussey said.The officer suffered minor injuries and called for assistance. A perimeter was established, and the suspect was seen near the Mossy Nissan dealership, at 3535 College Blvd., and officers tried to make contact with him, according to Bussey.Trabelsi went into a nearby ravine, prompting officers to deploy a police dog, according to Bussey.Trabelsi allegedly stabbed the dog, named Chico, in his head and then stabbed himself multiple times in his stomach, Bussey said. Chico was taken to a veterinarian and is expected to recover, according to Bussey.Officers, assisted by a San Diego County Sheriff's Department helicopter, searched for Trabelsi for two hours in tough terrain, according to Bussey.Trabelsi was located, arrested and taken to Scripps La Jolla to be treated for the self-inflicted injuries, Bussey said. 1381

(KGTV) - Trains passing through southern Orange County were delayed Monday night causing headaches for thousands of travelers.According to Amtrak, a train became stalled on the track between Oceanside and San Clemente “due to mechanical issues.”The Metrolink Twitter account said train 609 that was disabled.The Pacific Surfliner Twitter account said train 583 was also having mechanical issues. The delays resulted in the cancellation of train 590.Metrolink wrote on Twitter that they canceled OC Line 603 to LA Union Station Tuesday morning because of the issues with train 609.Metrolink offered busses from Laguna Niguel down to Oceanside, but one traveler who was stranded at the San Juan Capistrano station told 10News that Amtrak did not offer any busses to complete the trip. Officers in Columbus, Ohio are crediting a good Samaritan for tripping a suspect who was reaching into his waistband while being chased by officers. The police department released video from the April 3 incident on Thursday. Cameras captured the man, who Columbus Police are calling "Bill," casually sticking out his leg outside of a public library as the suspect ran behind him. The suspect then went flying into the sidewalk, giving officers an opportunity to arrest the unidentified suspect. Police said that they recovered a Glock 9 MM pistol with a high capacity extended clip containing 29 rounds near the suspect. Columbus Police added that citizen likely saved the suspect's life as officers might have shot the suspect for pulling out the gun. In the video released by Columbus Police, Bill said that he could see the suspect was holding something from his waistband."I heard him hit and the gun went sliding out," Bill said. "He went one way and the gun went another.""Thank you 'Bill' for sticking your leg out for us," Columbus Police said on the department's Facebook page.Columbus Police did not say what the 18-year-old suspect was wanted for.  1217
