SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- One of the most anticipated panels of Comic-Con Day 2 was "The Walking Dead" Panel. Fans left Hall H with several surprises for the upcoming season. If you're a Comic-Con mega fan, patience is a vital part of the experience. Many slept on the grassy courtyard for hours, just to claim a seat inside the coveted Hall H. Fans say they can't get enough. "I've been a fan since the first season came out," Superfan, Marvin Calderon said. "I'm also a fan of the comic books."Calderon showed us his right arm. It is entirely covered with "The Walking Dead" themed tattoos, proving to us, his extreme loyalty to the show.Friday's panel featured the showrunner, Angela Kang, her executive producers, Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Dave Alpert, and Greg Nicotero, as well as cast members Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Avi Nash, Cooper Andrews, Ryan Hurst, Nadia Hilker, Eleanor Matsuura, and Cailey Fleming. This was 12-year-old Cailey Fleming's first Comic-Con experience, and she stole the show. Fighting back tears, she announced her departure from the show, after Season 10."This has been one of the purest joys of my life to play this role, and to be amongst these people," Gurira said. She said it was a decision she did not take lightly, and that she hoped to follow her other callings. "My heart breaks," fan Katherine Butler said. "But I wish her luck because I loved her in Marvel. So she's going to do well no matter where she goes."As for Calderon, he says his tattoo is forever. "Michonne" will always be with him, even after her departure. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police responded Monday after a vehicle crashed into a Chick-fil-A in Mira Mesa.The crash happened on the 10700 block of Camino Ruiz near Mira Mesa Community Park. Authorities say no one was injured.Due to the crash, the inside of the restaurant was closed for the day as a structural engineer inspected the damage. Authorities haven't said what caused the crash.  407

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - One of the top brass at the San Diego Sheriff’s Department is facing an allegation of inappropriate conduct, Team 10 confirmed.A San Diego Sheriff’s spokesperson confirmed that Assistant Sheriff Rich Miller received a complaint and released this statement to Team 10:"The Department has received a complaint alleging inappropriate conduct by Mr. Miller. The San Diego County Sheriff's Department takes all allegations of misconduct very seriously.  As a result, an investigation is underway.  Mr. Miller is currently using accumulated leave time until his planned retirement date.  We cannot comment further based on the pending investigation." 686

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police have identified the man stabbed to death in a Pacific Beach bathroom this week.San Diego Police said officers were called on Sunday to a public restroom at 700 Grand Ave. to reports of a man who had been stabbed. Nearby lifeguards and firefighters were the first to arrive and started providing first aid to the man.Police said the victim, 39-year-old Michael Wagley, had puncture wounds to his upper torso and was taken to a nearby hospital, but died of his injuries. Police said Wagley was new to the San Diego area and had no established residence.RELATED: Man fatally stabbed in Pacific Beach bathroom, San Diego police sayAfter police arrived to the scene, several witnesses reported the suspect fled after the stabbing. A man matching the suspect description, later identified as 33-year-old Martin Alvarez, was detained in the area and later arrested for murder.Police are still investigating the events that led up to the stabbing and a possible motive. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Public health experts are worried that with COVID-19 cases surging, family gatherings during the upcoming holiday season could make for an epidemiological disaster. While officials are urging people to follow stay-at-home orders and avoid indoor gatherings with those outside of the immediate household, they realize that many families will get together regardless of the risk.“There are a lot of reasons why don’t do the thing that your physician or your county board of supervisors would label compliant," said Dr. Rebecca Fielding-Miller, a social epidemiologist and associate professor at UC San Diego. "And so the best thing that we can do is say, OK. In the absence of perfection, here are the other things you can do to protect yourself.”Fielding-Miller recommends that a family that insists on getting together for Thanksgiving create, in effect, its own version of a bubble such as the one successfully used for the restart of the NBA season. To create the safest bubble possible requires invitees to the dinner to isolate beginning at least by Wednesday the week before Thanksgiving. Each person should then get a COVID test three days before the holiday so there is enough time to get the result back. Fielding-Miller said it's critical to have a conversation with guests to make sure they understand and agree to those safety measures. "When we talk about bubbles, your bubble is really only as safe as the person who is the least interested in maintaining the safety of the bubble," Fielding-Miller said.Once Thanksgiving Day arrives, eating outdoors is much safer than indoors. Fielding-Miller also suggests trying to keep members of different households spaced out as much as possible. It is also critical to wear masks as much as possible.She also said that safety efforts do not end on Thanksgiving Day. "You need a plan for, I would say, testing five to eight days after you spent time with your family, so you can immediately let people know if you are positive and they need to get tested,” Fielding-Miller said. She also recommends keeping your children home from school for at least the first two days after the holiday, to protect them from children who may have contracted the virus during Thanksgiving trips.Fielding-Miller said how San Diego behaves to control the spread of the virus over Thanksgiving will help determine the severity of the situation for the December holidays. But while she said this is likely to be a very difficult holiday season, there is reason for optimist. “A vaccine is coming and it really is darkest before the dawn.
