Cities across the U.S. still may be trying to deck the halls, but a COVID-19 Christmas just looks and feels different.For people of faith, a season full of worship and togetherness will be missed."They do feel isolated," said GlenRoy Watson, a bishop with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.Watson’s congregation is made up of about 100 families."Normally at Christmas, we'd eat dinner and hang out and have a Christmas presentation," he said.This year, religious celebrations need to be held at home, but he had an idea."I'm just hoping that everyone will learn a little bit more about each one another and just continue to feel united," Watson said.He asked all families in his congregation to make a home video about their traditions or fond holiday memories to share with each other."It will be kind of like a mini movie," he said."For our Christmas tradition we read the story of Jesus Christ," congregation member Denise Cordero said as she sat with her young daughter by their Christmas tree and spoke to her iPhone camera.For church piano player VerLynn Brink, playing Christmas hymns for everyone at her church is what she will miss most."This is one of my favorite memories of Christmas," she said as she recorded a video on her phone while playing her piano. SAN DIEGO — Corinne Lam didn't waste anytime once she learned she wouldn't be allowed to cut hair indoors anymore.She spent Monday afternoon gathering tents, misters, and rugs to make it somewhat bearable to move Rancho Bernardo’s Salotto Salon’s operations into its parking lot."We were essentially ready to start operating tomorrow outdoors,” she said Tuesday.Governor Newsom on Monday ordered salons, gyms and malls to cease indoor operations to slow the increasing spread of Covid-19.Lam didn't think moving outside would be a problem. SAN DIEGO (CNS and KGTV) - A young man and woman who had been dating were found dead in the doorway of a home in the Lake Murray area of San Diego in what authorities said was a murder-suicide.Police received a call about 8 p.m. Tuesday of someone being shot in the 6300 block of Budlong Avenue.When officers arrived, they found 19-year-old Willow Singer and her ex-boyfriend 19-year-old Thomas Hayes with gunshot wounds to the upper body, according to Lt. Anthony Dupree of the San Diego Police Department. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 19-year-old man was behind bars Friday on suspicion of fatally shooting an acquaintance at a San Ysidro motel.Customs officers who recognized Jonathan Orduno of Chula Vista from a be-on-the-lookout bulletin took him into custody at the San Ysidro Point of Entry on Thursday night in connection with the death last week of 22-year-old Adrian Torres-Garcia, according to San Diego police.A housekeeper found Torres-Garcia dead in a rented room at a motel in the 100 block of Calle Primera shortly before noon March 18, homicide Lt. Matt Dobbs said. The victim, a South Bay native with no known permanent address, died of at least one gunshot to his upper body.RELATED: San Diego police investigate death of man at San Ysidro motelDobbs declined to disclose a suspected motive for the shooting or release details on what led investigators to identify Orduno as the alleged killer. The lieutenant also would not say if the suspect was trying to leave the country or was re-entering the United States at the time of his arrest.Police have not recovered the gun that killed Torres-Garcia, Dobbs said.Orduno was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of first- degree murder.
