Seniors are among the fastest-growing population of new cannabis users. However, the stigma behind cannabis could be keeping some seniors from getting much-needed relief from chronic pain, as well as sleepless nights.Greg Saweikis is one senior finding relief through cannabis. Since he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in 2017, he’s undergone rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. But after a suggestion from a friend, Saweikis started taking cannabis, too.He takes CBD and THC pills by Stratos. He even uses a cannabis cream for his hands.  “It seems like it really has been helping,” Saweikis says. “I sleep a little bit better.”  But Saweikis knows not all people his age and older are open to using cannabis.  “I think there is a large stigma, still,” he says. “And it's just a holdover from the 60s and the whole, you know, from demonstrations and all of that kind of thing.”  Since the 1930s you've been told there's something really bad about cannabis that's always going to be there in the back of your head.  Leland Rucker is editor of Sensi, a magazine for adults with a cannabis emphasis. He says the stigma is still attached.  “And I talked to one woman who it really helped her start to sleep. She's all of a sudden sleeping much better, but she was embarrassed about,” Rucker recalls. “She was embarrassed to talk to people about it, because she had been so cannabis negative all of her life.”But Rucker says more older Americans are exploring, encouraged in part by their children and grandchildren.  “And so, you have to find out what the reality is,” Rucker says. “And I think that now that it's legal, we've given people that opportunity.”   1725

In a press release, Major League Baseball said the game was postponed to allow more time for additional testing and to complete the contact tracing process. The Cardinals have been off since last week when two players returned positive coronavirus tests. Eight players in total have tested positive, including star catcher Yadier Molina.ESPN reported the Cardinals already have games to make up due to postponing against the Milwaukee Brewers, who they were scheduled to play last week in a 3-game series. SOLANA BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) - An injured sea lion spotted on a North San Diego County beach prompted lifeguards to place shark warning signs along a stretch of coastline Thursday. The incident was reported about 9:30 a.m. at 2525 South Coast Highway near Tower 11 at Cardiff State Beach, according to California State Parks officials. A jogger reported the sea lion with a missing tail and gash on its back, washed up on the beach.SeaWorld San Diego experts responded to the area but told 10News the sea lion later died due to the severity of its injuries. They confirmed the female sea lion was bitten by a shark.Lifeguards posted aggressive shark advisories for beachgoers from Cardiff Reef in the north to Seaside State Beach in the south, officials said. There was no immediate word on the type of shark involved. The incident Thursday marks the sixth shark sighting over the last several weeks in the waters off San Diego. Shark sightings several days in a row prompted shark advisories in Del Mar in July. A shark sighting in Coronado also forced lifeguards to post signs warning beachgoers about the presence of sharks. A shark advisory means that a shark has been spotted in the water and swimmers should enter at their own risk.
