The apps include Postmates, Uber Eats, Door Dash and Eat 24.All four apps have slight differences when it comes to restaurants, fees and how easy they are to use. Not every app has the same restaurants on them, so you might have to use an app that has the restaurant of your liking.Door Dash was the simplest app to use because there weren’t that many choices or suggestions to help you choose what to eat.Eat 24, like many of the other apps offered food categories like American, Asian and Mexican to help you narrow down your choices.We found when placing your order on each app you had to add your credit card and address, but for Uber Eats you did not. If you have an Uber Ride Share account, it's automatically synced up to that app. It cut the ordering time in half if you were a new user.Although we used Postmates for ordering food, we learned you can use the app for ordering anything. Some use Postmates to order clothes to be picked up or getting an item from the drug store delivered to their house.No matter which app you use there’s a place to save money by adding a promo code. But, you’ll need to watch out for hidden service fees outside of the usual delivery and tax fee.A great feature all the apps have are alerts or push notifications letting you know where your food is and when it will be delivered.Almost every app delivered the food we ordered 10 minutes earlier than their estimated arrival time. Curling usually soars in popularity during the Winter Olympics, but you can also play year-round, even in sunny San Diego.Each week, members of “Curl San Diego” gather at the Icetown Skating Rink in Carlsbad to teach people curling. “It’s fascinating and something you don’t usually see, so everyone wants to try it,” said Owen McLachlan, the club’s vice president.The idea behind curling is simple. Shove a 42-pound rock as close to the center of a target as possible.In reality, it’s not so easy. “It’s usually called, ‘Chess on Ice,’” McLachlan said. Similar to bocce or shuffleboard, the team closest to the center gets the points.The sweeping heats up the ice, reducing friction and allowing the stone to travel farther and straighter.“An eighth of an inch can make or break a shot,” said Karen Coombs, who grew up playing in Canada, but now lives in San Diego.The Carlsbad club started after the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy. Organizers say a lot of Canadians in San Diego wanted a place to play, and when the Winter Olympics come around..“We'll have 200 people for a learn to curl,” Coombs said. CALEXICO, Calif. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the death of a man who was hit by a vehicle driven by a U.S. Border Patrol agent near the U.S.-Mexico border. U.S. Customs and Border Protection says the incident happened about 8:40 p.m. Friday when the agent was driving to a spot along the border to investigate reports of people illegally crossing it. The agent’s vehicle hit a man who was lying in the road. The agent immediately rendered aid to the man until emergency medical services arrived. The agency says the man was first taken to a nearby hospital and then airlifted to a trauma center in Palm Springs, where he died. 642

CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) -- Border Patrol and the Coast Guard are investigating after a Panga Boat washed ashore in North County Monday morning. According to agents, the 18-foot-long boat was found early Monday morning on Tamarack State Beach in Carlsbad. Agents discovered several life jackets and gas cans inside the vessel. RELATED: Possible human smuggling boat found in Del Mar beachMarkings on the boat indicate it may have come from Ensenada, but Border Patrol hasn’t confirmed that information. Carnival Cruise Lines announced Monday it will continue a suspension of operations in North America through the end of September amid the spread of the coronavirus.The cruise line’s decision takes its suspension well past a US government-mandated prohibition on cruises. The CDC issued a 100-day no-sail order on April 15, which is set to expire on July 24. It’s unclear whether the CDC will extend the order.Cruise ships became the site of several early outbreaks of the virus, causing passengers on board a number of ships to be quarantined as officials tried to determine how to safely allow passengers to disembark.The issue with outbreaks of COVID-19 have lingered on cruise ships as hundreds of crew members have remained quarantined on board ships for months.“Carnival is giving guests who wish to move their booking to a later date a rebooking offer that combines a Future Cruise Credit (FCC) and either a 0 or 0 Onboard Credit (OBC) that has proven very popular with their guests,” Carnival said in a statement. “Guests, as always, have the option to receive a full refund. The process is fully automated so that guests can submit their preference online and they have until May 31, 2021 to make a selection.”Whether Carnival is able to resume operations in October remains in doubt.
