NEW YORK CITY — Police are looking for a man they say assaulted a New York City bus driver who asked him to put on a mask before boarding the Manhattan bus.According to the NYPD, the unidentified man attempted to get on the northbound New York City Transit Authority (MTA) bus near Madison Avenue and East 29th Street around 2:30 a.m. Monday without a mandatory face covering.The bus driver, 62, stopped the man, telling him he had to put on a mask to ride the bus, police said.According to authorities, the man punched the bus driver in the face before fleeing the bus in an unknown direction.The victim suffered pain and swelling and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, police said.Face coverings or masks are required on all MTA buses, subways and trains as the city continues to battle the coronavirus pandemic.The NYPD has released the above surveillance images of the man for whom they're searching.This story was originally published by Mark Sundstrom and Rebecca Solomon on WPIX in New York City. 1022

NEW YORK (AP) — In the most seismic shift by a Hollywood studio yet during the pandemic, Warner Bros. Pictures on Thursday announced that all of its 2021 film slate — including a new “Matrix” movie, “Godzilla vs. Kong” and the Lin-Manuel Miranda adaptation “In the Heights” — will stream on HBO Max at the same time they play in theaters. “No one wants films back on the big screen more than we do," said Ann Sarnoff, chief executive of WarnerMedia Studios in a press release. "We know new content is the lifeblood of theatrical exhibition, but we have to balance this with the reality that most theaters in the U.S. will likely operate at reduced capacity throughout 2021."Films will debut simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max in the U.S. After one month, they will stop streaming and continue to play only in theaters.The movies slated to be released are: "The Little Things," "Judas and the Black Messiah," "Tom & Jerry," "Godzilla vs. Kong," "Mortal Kombat," "Those Who Wish Me Dead," "The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It," "In The Heights," "Space Jam: A New Legacy," "The Suicide Squad," "Reminiscence," "Malignant," "Dune," "The Many Saints of Newark," "King Richard," "Cry Macho," and "Matrix 4." NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- A United States Air Force Pilot was killed Wednesday morning when his F-16 Fighting Falcon jet crashed outside Las Vegas, the Air Force said. The pilot died when his F-16 Fighting Falcon jet crashed during a routine aerial demonstration training flight at 10:30 a.m. His name has not yet been released. An investigation is being conducted into the cause of the mishap. The team’s participation at the March Air Reserve Base “The March Field Air & Space Expo” has been canceled.  It is unknown how this accident will impact the remainder of the 2018 Thunderbirds Season.   674

(KGTV) -- Some South Bay neighbors oppose the city of San Diego’s plans to build a sober-living drug treatment facility at the site of a Super 8 Motel in Nestor on Palm Avenue just west of the I-5.The Otay Mesa-Nestor Community Planning Group voted 9-2 Wednesday evening to not recommend the San Diego City Council approve the San Diego Misdemeanants At-Risk Track (SMART) program treatment center at the Super 8 Motel site.  RELATED: City plans to house criminals in South Bay HotelResidents at the meeting said they oppose the facility, mostly because it may interfere with plans to revitalize the area in the future.They believe a drug treatment facility will turn investors away.According to the city, there will be counselors on-site, 24-hour security, and strict rules.According to the City Attorney’s website, “SMART prioritizes chronic misdemeanor offenders with acute drug addictions and complex social service needs. New York is adding new measures to prevent people from dying while taking selfies at a waterfall in the Catskill Mountains.The picturesque Kaaterskill Falls is one of the most visited spots in southeast New York state. However, capturing the perfect photo for social media turned fatal for several people.“I cringe, when someone is where they shouldn’t be,” says Peter Innes with the New York Department of Environmental Conservation. “Because they are just too close to the edge.”Four deaths in the past several years occurred due to the victims being too close to the edge, while taking or posing for photos. Officials say it’s now considered one of the riskiest activities at the park.“A lot of people would think about ice climbing or rock climbing, back country skiing,” says Robert Dawson, a forest ranger. “It’s actually picture taking, because everyone can do it now.”The park sees tens of thousands more visitors annually than they did just a couple decades ago. A lot of that is due to visitors posting photos on their social media platforms, attracting new visitors seeking similar photo ops.“Or they’ll put it on YouTube, and they wanna see how many hits they can get on it,” explains Dawson.“So, then they wanna make those really cool videos. That’s where they’re willing to take that extra risk.“Then people will see that and be like, ‘I wanna go up there.’” Two of the most recent deaths—in 2016—occurred after the state had already made safety changes.Officials added a staircase to prevent slipping, as well as fencing to keep people from the edge. However, people continued to walk around it despite the obvious park signage.   “We realized there was a problem because of the continued fatalities,” says Innes.Innes helped draft new regulations that went into effect this month.“People are now not allowed to get within 6 feet of the cliff’s edges themselves,” says Innes of the new policy. “They also can’t swim within 150 feet of the top of the falls.”Now, rangers like Dawson have the authority to ticket and even forcibly remove anyone putting themselves at risk.“Before I was just like, ‘Hey, I really don’t want you to do this,’ and some groups will listen some are like, ‘Hey, it’s a free country,’” says Dawson.If he could offer just one piece of advice to Instagram-happy trail goers, Dawson says, “You can still get that great picture; you can do it 10 feet away from the edge and you’ll get the same effect.” 2470
