It was Xi's first visit to Singapore as Chinese president. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Cooperation among countries along the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road will encourage countries to further open up and bring forward greater international exchanges and integration on a much bigger scale, and henceforth provide stronger momentum for economic and social development in the Asia Pacific region, it said.
The attendees said they backed the central leadership's proposals but made suggestions on various issues concerning the economic growth target, poverty alleviation, the aging population and green development.
"I hope my visit could help cement our traditional friendship, outline future development of our relations, and lift China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to a new level," the president said in a written statement upon arrival.
It was announced by Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao at a reception marking the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Afghanistan.
