(KGTV) — The cities of La Mesa and Santee have enacted curfews through much of this week over concerns of possible unrest.La Mesa's curfew begins at 7 p.m. and ends at 5:30 a.m. the following day for each day from Tuesday to Sunday morning.The City of La Mesa says in a release that, "due to conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property that have arisen within the City of La Mesa as a result of rioting and looting related to a police protest on May 30, 2020, the City of La Mesa Director of Emergency and Disaster proclaimed the existence of a local emergency within the City on May 31st, 2020."RELATED: 2 people arrested, accused of pointing gun at group gathered in SanteeSantee's curfew was set to start at 7 p.m. until the following day at 6 a.m. each day from Tuesday to Saturday morning.This curfew applies to the portions of Santee located to the south of Mast Boulevard (including all of Mast Boulevard), east of Carlton Hills Boulevard (including all of Carlton Hills Boulevard), west of Magnolia Avenue (including all of Magnolia Avenue itself) and north ofBoulevard), west of Magnolia Avenue (including all of Magnolia Avenue itself) and north of Highway 52.Santee leaders said, "for the past four evenings, large gatherings have occurred in the City of Santee, which have created threats to public safety and property and are in violation of current public health orders. Based on credible information, the City believes these large gatherings will continue to occur. The extension of the curfew will help in keeping the community of Santee safe while protecting our residents and local businesses."Monday night, San Diego Sheriff's Department says that two people were arrested after allegedly pointing a gun at a group of people gathered at the intersection of Cuyamaca Street and Mission Gorge Road.SDSO said a woman pointed a handgun at the group, before a traffic deputy spotted the reported vehicle and stopped the driver. Witnesses positively identified the woman in a curb-side lineup, and the woman and driver were both arrested after a semi-automatic weapon and two magazines were found in the vehicle, SDSO said.Poway, which had a curfew Sunday and Monday nights, had no plans for a curfew Tuesday night, Mayor Steve Vaus tweeted Wednesday.The cities has first enacted curfews after Saturday night saw instances of looting, rioting, and vandalism in La Mesa following demonstrations at La Mesa Police Department against police violence. 2490

A 26-year-old tattoo artist was arrested on sexual abuse and assault charges after an incident involving an intoxicated teen last month.According to police documents, a 19-year-girl was offered a free thigh tattoo at the Dark Side Tattoo shop in Phoenix. Arturo Emmanuel Palafox and the victim were reportedly alone in the shop when he was giving the teen her tattoo on March 16, 2018. The pair reportedly left to get a bottle of Crown Royal and were both drinking during the incident. Police paperwork says Palafox engaged in unwanted sexual contact and intercourse with the intoxicated victim several times, photographed her and was seen on surveillance video stirring her drink when she left the room. The victim reportedly noticed a green powdery substance in her cup when she returned from a trip to the bathroom. A family member of the victim contacted ABC15 and said the victim could not remember portions of the incident, matching similar reports from police paperwork. Police say the victim contacted her sister during the incident and said she had been raped. Her sister showed up at the tattoo shop and was eventually able to take her from the scene. She alerted police that Palafox was leaving the shop and police were able to detain him during a traffic stop. Evidence collected included a small bag of green powder, a bottle of alcohol, unopened condoms and surveillance footage from the tattoo shop.Palafox was booked into jail on 15 counts of felony sex assault, six counts of felony sex abuse, one count of aggravated assault, two counts of unlawful recording and one count of kidnapping.  1669

Guide Dogs of America is searching for volunteer puppy raisers in San Diego.GDA places puppies in foster homes at 8 weeks of age.  The volunteer makes sure the puppy receives the proper socialization to adjust to their important job later in life.Volunteers will attend a Puppy Orientation meeting and receive a Puppy Manual with “do’s” and “don’ts”. A bowl, brush, bone, leash, collar, ID tag, ID card, puppy jacket and 5-pound bag of dog food are included. Future items purchased for the puppy are tax deductible. (KGTV) – Military officials said search teams identified the location off San Clemente Island where an amphibious assault vehicle sank last week, resulting in the deaths of eight service members from a Camp Pendleton-based unit.I Marine Expeditionary Force said Tuesday the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit and Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group “positively identified on Aug. 3 the location of the amphibious assault vehicle (AAV) that sunk off the coast of San Clemente Island on July 30.”Officials also said the Navy's Undersea Rescue Command “confirmed human remains were identified with remotely-operated video systems aboard HOS Dominator, an undersea search & rescue ship. The Navy has expedited the movement of assets to recover the remains of the Marines and Sailor, and raise the AAV.”Military officials said the AAV was participating in a training exercise when it started taking on water for unknown reasons at around 5:45 p.m. on July 30. Officials confirmed the AAV sunk 385 feet upon taking on water during a shore-to-ship manuever.Seven members of the Camp Pendleton-based crew survived the accident. Medics took two of them to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, where both were admitted in critical status. One was upgraded to stable condition as of Sunday night, Marine officials said.The other five rescued Marines received clean bills of health and returned to their units.Lance Cpl. Guillermo S. Perez of New Braunfels, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. A 9-year-old boy retrieved a gun from his parents' bedroom and shot his 13-year-old sister to death, authorities said, after the two got into an argument over a video game controller.The incident occurred over the weekend in rural Monroe County, Mississippi, as the children's mother was preparing lunch in the kitchen, the country sheriff said."He wanted the controller, and I guess he knew where to find the gun," Sheriff Cecil Cantrell told CNN.The boy grabbed a handgun, which was kept in a nightstand next to the bed, and shot the sister in the back of the head, the sheriff said."This is the first time I've ever dealt with any child that was shot like that," Cantrell said. "And I hope I never deal with it again."The girl was taken to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, where she was pronounced dead Sunday.The case is still under investigation and authorities have not filed charges."We are talking to the district attorney," Cantrell said.The-CNN-Wire 977
