CLEVELAND — A mother in Shaker Heights, Ohio said her daughter was ridiculed after asking her cheerleading coaches for a larger uniform. Mother Lakessa Taylor claims the fat-shaming didn't end there.Laylonie Dowdell, 16, rejoined the cheerleading squad at Shaker Heights High School this fall, but after a summer off, her uniform was a little snug.Her mother told her to request a new, larger one and the teen said what happened next left her speechless."They basically refused to order me a uniform because they said it held my boobs down," Dowdell said.She not only complained that her top was extremely tight, she told an assistant coach her pants were too small as well."She replied, 'I wonder why? You're eating too much,' and insisted I run laps back and forth to the stop sign and back until my ride got there," said Dowdell.Dowdell said she didn't want to show her two coaches she was upset, so her coping mechanism was to always smile and giggle."You're supposed to be my coach, she's supposed to mentor me, uplift me, but you're putting me down," said Dowdell.In a video from an away game in Medina, Ohio you can see Dowdell having to pull her uniform down.After struggling with it at another game in Mentor, Ohio she said she was approached by the assistant cheerleading coach while holding a hot dog and a pop.Dowdell said the coach asked her: "What are you putting in your mouth now? Why are you eating that?"Dowdell's mom said the hurtful comments left her daughter broken."We train our children to fend off bad things from other children, but we don't train them to defend themselves against adults," Taylor said.Taylor said as soon as her daughter told her what was going on, she notified the principal."I complained to the school on Monday. Today is Friday. I haven't heard anything from the school," said Taylor.While she hasn't heard anything from the school district, Taylor got a chance to talk with the assistant coach."She told me herself, 'Well, Laylonie was laughing and joking and so I didn't think there was anything wrong with what I said. Laylonie talks to me about her weight sometimes, so it was OK for me to say those things to her,' " said Taylor.Since coming forward and sharing her story, both coaches in question have resigned. WEWS was told the head coach planned to do so anyway at the end of football season."This is not the only complaint. We're talking about several. I've talked to four parents in the last 24 hours," said Taylor.In light of these allegations, the district is praising the head coach for her 23 years of service, calling her a devoted coach, a mentor and a "valuable member" of the athletic department."It's disturbing that the school is commending this lady for all that she has done," said Taylor.The district refused WEWS's requests for an on-camera interview, but a spokesperson said they take complaints of this nature very seriously.In the meantime, Dowdell said for the first time ever she's having issues with her body image."I know I'm pretty, I know I'm beautiful. But, when I look in the mirror I'm not as skinny as the next girl, or I can lose a few," said Dowdell.In a statement, the district said that despite these resignations, the investigation into these complaints will continue. 3290

Then rage overcomes you.In a Facebook post, Cody Vickers documented a similar scenario that happened in Columbus while he was at a construction job. His photo shows a butt-naked man bathing in water spewing from a broken water main near North High Street in Clintonville, the Columbus Dispatch reported.He said, “It’s not every day you see a naked man come out of his house screaming and cussing ... then comes off the porch and finishes taking his shower where the excavator hit the line," in a Facebook post that has since gone viral, getting 137,000 shares and more than 14,000 likes."I was in the f****** shower. I got soap all over me," said Vickers, repeating what the man said when he was met with a trench and a fountain of water. He said the man slung his towel off and ran down the steps, across the sidewalk and over the trench where he met his temporary shower.The Columbus Dispatch reported that the construction crew hit an unmarked line and the man came outside seconds later with a towel around his waist."I couldn't believe he did that. CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) - The Coronado teenager nearly shot to death in a robbery last spring is now a real estate agent, possibly the youngest in his community. At just 19, Jacob McKanry took the test to get his license just days after getting released from the hospital.The Coronado High School Senior nearly died after he was shot selling jewelry to a couple of guys he met online.McKanry and a friend met the so-called buyers on Orange Avenue around 9 p.m. on May 4th.One of the guys grabbed the necklace while the other pulled out a gun. McKanry tried to get back the jewelry."I just hear a giant boom from behind me, and I feel my insides go like this," said McKanry.He said the shooter than aimed for McKanry's friend."My buddy was backing up, and he fell over a bike rack and the bullet, he shot right as he fell over so, the bullet went right over his head and hit that Which Wich window which definitely saved his life," said McKanry.McKanry was released from the hospital after ten days, but ultimately readmitted with a near-lethal infection.He says he still has pain in his liver and pressure in his lungs. He endured a ten-hour surgery to have the bullet, lodged between his spine and aorta, removed."It went through the back, at first it shattered part of one of my ribs, so that's how it entered into the body. So I broke, for lack of a better term, broke 2 of my ribs, and it took out a baseball chunk size of my liver. It punctured and collapsed my lung filing with blood, fractured my spine, shaved off part of my aorta, causing a pseudoaneurysm," said McKanry.McKanry said he was sure he would die."I leaned over, coughed into my hand, I spit up blood, and I was like well this is bad, I was like I'm pretty much going to die here," he said.His Christian faith brought him comfort."I was at peace, and it's going to be weird when I say this, but I was even happy, obviously, not happy that I got shot, but I pretty much knew where I was going. I knew that I was going to die and I knew that I was going to be soon reunited with the person that created me, so I was just peaceful. I was looking up at the stars and,I was happy, I was ready to go," said McKanry.Today the nineteen-year-old is excited about selling real estate. He's also studying business through Santa Barbara City College.Police arrested 3 teenagers. A judge recently sentenced the seventeen-year-old boy who set up the robbery to three years in juvenile detention. An eighteen-year-old is charged with being the getaway driver, and a second seventeen-year-old is accused of being the shooter. McKanry wants the shooter tried as an adult, but he also has compassion."I hope that he finds God, and I hope that he understands that what he did was absolutely wrong, and I hope that he is able to change his life around," said McKanry.McKanry hopes to use his ordeal to share a message."Always, always, always be thankful for what God lays in your path and never take anything for granted, cause you could go outside one day and it will all be gone," said McKanry. 3055

Cottonwood, Arizona police have arrested a 32-year-old woman in what they call, "One of the worst cases of neglect some of the officers involved have ever seen."Sarah Easterday-Shortridge faces several charges in connection with the crime. On the morning of March 10, the Verde Valley Regional SWAT team served a search warrant at a home.Officers were made aware of the residence after a person received medical treatment from being pistol-whipped by a man staying at the home the night before. Police say officers found Easterday-Shortridge's three children, all under the age of five, living in "deplorable conditions." The abandoned home reportedly had feces, trash, debris, broken glass, and rotting food throughout. Officers described the residence as a "flop-house" for drug users.The children were transported to a medical center where they received treatment and hygiene. Police say the kids were suffering from lice, open sores, scabies, bumps, and were covered in feces. The Department of Child Safety was called to the scene and the children were removed from Easterday-Shortridge’s custody, police said. She has been charged with several felonies including child abuse, endangerment, neglect or abuse of a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia.   1326
