DURANGO, Colo. – The young bear that was burned in the East Canyon Fire in June was released back into the wild this week not far from where it was found, Colorado Parks and Wildlife said.The 2-year-old bear had been recovering at CPW’s Frisco Creek rehab facility in Del Norte from burns he suffered during the fire. CPW said the bear weighed only 43 pounds when he was first captured in the fire.But after undergoing salve treatment on his paws, and having his bandages changed 16 times over the course of a month, he recovered and was moved from a pen with concrete floors to one with trees and hiding spaces mid-July, where he spent the past monthMichael Sirochman, the veterinary technician and manager at Frisco Creek, said the bear was 110 pounds and had seen its paws toughen up before he was released Monday.“He’s now about the weight he should be for a two-year-old bear and is in good shape for going into the fall,” Sirochman said.CPW officers originally found the bear on June 16 walking near a pond on the east side of the East Canyon Fire, which burned in June outside of Durango. Officials said the bear was released not far from that location on Monday.CPW said the bear originally hesitated for a moment as it looked at and smelled its new surroundings but then jumped from a CPW truck and ran into the forest. Dolly Parton spent Thursday at Vanderbilt's Children's Hospital to celebrate a deeply personal milestone. Her niece, Hannah Dennison, turns 30 years old on Sunday — a birthday Parton wasn't always sure she'd be able to celebrate."Twenty-six years ago is when Hannah was diagnosed with leukemia, and for five years we didn't know if we'd be keeping her or not," Parton told a room full of doctors, nurses, patients and families. "But Hannah now stands here as our chemo hero. She shows that miracles do happen with good care, great doctors and great nurses."Parton met some of those doctors and nurses last fall when she visited the hospital to release her first-ever children's album. During that visit, she decided to donate million to the hospital."They took such good care of her and just looking at the little faces of the kids going through this and the parents who suffer so much as well; it's just touching and moving," she said. "If you're in a position where you can do something, you should do something."In return, the Children's Hospital dedicated it's second floor butterfly garden to Dennison on Thursday."Now that we have Hannah's butterfly garden, we may come up and do little shows now and then and bring some joy to the kids," Parton said. (KGTV) — FBI investigators are searching for two men wanted for robbing an East County bank last month.Two men entered the Citi Bank location at 402 Fletcher Parkway in El Cajon on Dec. 27, 2019, just before 1:30 p.m. One men approached a teller and made a verbal demand for money while the second suspect remained in the bank lobby.After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the suspects left the bank on foot in an unknown direction.The first suspect is described as a Caucasian man, in his late 40s to 50s, about 5-foot-9, with slender build. He had dark, possibly dyed, hair and a dark handlebar mustache. He was last seen wearing reading glasses, a camouflaged baseball cap, long sleeve blue shirt with a short sleeve red shirt on top, and boots.The second suspect was also described as a Caucasian man, in his late 30s, standing about 5-foot 10-inches tall, and with slender build.
