SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One man is dead and three people have been detained for questioning after a reported shooting overnight in Paradise Hills.San Diego Police arrived at a home in the 6200 block of Childs Avenue just after 1 a.m. Saturday over reports of a shooting. Officers arrived to find a 20-year-old, later identified as Tyshawn Powell, lying in the driveway of the home and a family member performing CPR.Fire-Rescue arrived to continue life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.Police said the man had been shot at least once. Neighbors were interviewed about the reported gunshots in the area and as a result, an adult male and female, and a juvenile male were detained. According to police, Angelo Roshon Richardson Jr., 19, and Mikayla Ann Castillo, 18, as well as a 17-year-old were detained. Richardson was booked into jail for murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm while Castillo was booked into jail for being an accessory to murder. But it's a mixed bag when you break down new statistics today from SANDAG.The good news is that property crime is down so far in 2017.Car thefts are down by 13-percent while burglary and larceny are each down by 9-percents for violent crime, it really depends on where you live.SANDAG breaks down the numbers into 17 jurisdictions. Violent crime is up this year in 12 of them.Those communities with a rise in crime were Carlsbad, Chula Vista, Oceanside, Encinitas, Lemon Grove, San Marcos, Santee, Vista, Fallbrook, Lakeside, Spring Valley, and Valley Center.Homicides are down 14-percent and rape is down by three. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police are looking for the thief who committed a brazen robbery at a South Park metaphysical shop, stealing a ,000 crystal ball in broad daylight in front of store staff and other customers.The theft occurred Monday afternoon around 12:30 p.m. at Crystal Blue Vibrations, San Diego Police said. "This was a lot worse than we thought," co-owner Andrew Lucas told 10News. "That's when we went to the video tape and it showed everything."The thief could be seen casually walking through the store, chatting with an employee behind the counter. He then walked over to the front display, which included several large crystal spheres. He reached in to grab an expensive one, but knocked over a shelf, leaving shattered glass all over and drawing the attention of the employee. However, it appears the employee did not realize the man was attempting to steal the item. While the employee was focused on cleaning up the mess, the the thief can be seen grabbing the crystal ball, placing it on the ground, dribbling it like a soccer ball to the front door, then bending over to pick it up and walk out. "I thought I'd seen it all," Lucas said. "Yeah, it's pretty brazen. It's heartbreaking."Lucas says he plans to limit how much access customers have to certain items in the future. "And more security, but I guess that's what the world is coming to."A police report has been filed. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police officers saved a parrot from a hot car in Sorrento Valley, as temperatures reached upwards of 120 degrees inside the vehicle.San Diego Police say someone noticed a Macaw parrot in a car in distress at a hotel parking lot in the 11000 block of Vista Sorrento Parkway. A San Diego Humane Society officer responded and tried to break the window, before calling SDPD for assistance.Police broke the window and removed the parrot and rushed it to a veterinarian.A police officer told ABC 10News that the temperature in the car was at least 120 degrees. The bird only had a cup of liquid in a Big Gulp cup and no food.It's a misdemeanor to leave an animal unattended in a hot vehicle.San Diego Humane Society said the parrot is doing okay and the owners have been reached to reclaim the bird."Cars get hot very fast, so we advise never to leave an animal unattended in car, especially when it is warm outside. Even with the windows open, a parked car can quickly become a furnace. If the temperature outside is 80 degrees, the temperature inside your car can quickly climb to 120 degrees.
