has been arrested, as deputies say she used a credit card in her boyfriend's name to get back at him for not buying her a plane ticket to New York.Serina Wolfe, 24, of Buffalo, N.Y., was in the news a few days ago when she left a ,000 tip for a server grieving the loss of her dog, but now we have the rest of the story.According to an arrest affidavit, Wolfe made a purchase using a credit card in her boyfriend's name. He said they were in an argument because he wouldn't buy her a plane ticket home to New York.Wolfe denied making the purchase. Then her boyfriend reported the charge to his credit card company as fraudulent, saying he believes she was drunk or trying to get back at him.Clear Sky Cafe, where the tip was given, was notified the purchase was fraudulent on Monday, and they had already paid out their waitress for the amount of ,000 for the tip and .37 for the food.Wolfe voluntarily handed over the card she used to deputies and was arrested for grand theft. It is unclear at this time whether or not the server will get to keep the money. 1067

– is an organization working to advance gender equity for women and girls. “Overall, the gender pay gap is 82 cents on the dollar right now from the most recent research this Fall of 2019. That means on average full-time working women earn 82 cents on the dollar compared to men working full time,” AAUW CEO Kim Churches said. According to Churches, the gender pay gap extends to every industry and the higher a job is in pay, the larger the gap typically is. “So the gender pay gap really is that when you have equal skills and equal educational levels, and yet women are paid systemically less than their male colleagues,” Churches said. Churches says part of the problem is that women have been historically steered toward a certain type of career that’s typically underpaid, like teaching or social work. However, she says women are still being offered less money when entering traditionally male-dominated professions. The same can't be said when the roles are reversed. “Nursing is a great example of that. More men have been entering the nursing field, and yet there’s still an 8 percent pay gap. Meaning once men entered, they were out-earning their female colleagues,” Churches said. So why is this happening? Besides traditional bias, Churches says states that haven’t updated laws are using salary history to determine future salary and women are often less likely to negotiate pay. With more dual-income parents today and more women becoming the breadwinner of their family, Churches says there needs to be updated policies, employers have to improve their practices, and women must feel empowered to navigate their own financial futures. “Frankly this is not just a women’s issue, it’s about economic security for families,” Churches said. Families that many young women hope to have. “The wage gap is supposed to close in 2048, and that is not ok. It should be now. It should have been a while ago. So I think our hope is that with awareness it can speed up and it can close faster than that,” Worden said. The girls’ story has helped to sell 0,000 worth of “equal pay” jerseys with the proceeds going toward promoting women’s economic equality.  2169

At 8 years old, the cat ended up at the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, or BARCS, and was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, which stopped her from being adoptable.Laura Cassiday with Chesapeake Cats and Dogs rescued her and got her thyroid under control, but she found multiple mammary masses during her spay, and things took another downward turn. But Walnut is a fighter and a survivor. She recently underwent a bilateral mastectomy to remove the cancer from her body and prevent it from spreading. She’s not out of the woods yet, and her cancer could always come back, which is why she’s looking for someone who understands what she’s been through."She takes an inexpensive (about a month) pill twice a day to keep her thyroid in check. She’ll eat it right out of her food, no issues! She is an affectionate lap cat and would love nothing more than cuddling the day away with you ... to go through so much and then receive a cancer diagnosis on top of it all would be devastating to almost anyone," Cassiday said. "Walnut has taken it in stride, appreciating every day and living her life to the fullest."Walnut is located in Baltimore and her adoption fee is waived to a fellow cancer survivor."She thinks it would be great to have a partner in life who understands her, so they can cheer each other on ... she’s already unstoppable — imagine how the two of you would be together!" Cassiday added.Cassiday said Walnut would be best as the only animal in her forever home and would do OK with older kids. To learn more about adopting Walnut, 1558
