VIENNA, April 12 (Xinhua) -- A protein group has been identified as an "allergy multiplier" that causes food allergy, a symptom that could also accompany other allergies and produce serious consequences, Austrian researchers said Tuesday.The so-called non-specific lipid transfer proteins (nsLTP) are believed to be the causes of food allergy, a research team from the Medical University of Vienna said in a new report.These plant allergens are found not only in many fruits and vegetables, but also in cereals and some types of pollen. Due to their compact structures, they are not degraded in the gastrointestinal tract and can trigger immune reactions that cause severe allergic symptoms, said the report.The researchers believe that with nsLTP identified as an " allergy multiplier," diagnostic and treatment procedures could be adapted and improved.

BEIJING, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- China's railways transported about 77.34 million passengers during the fifteen days (Jan. 19 to Feb. 2) before the Spring Festival, the Ministry of Railways said.The figure was about 9.5 percent higher than the same period last year and set a new record, according to a report posted on the ministry's website.There were an average of 5.16 million passengers per day, up 448,000 from the same period last year. PARIS, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Heavy load launcher Ariane 5 lifted off two communication satellites, Yahsat Y1A and Intelsat New Dawn, at around 6:37 p.m. local time (2137 GMT) on Friday from Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana.Yahsat Y1A is the first United Arab Emirates satellite launched by Arianespace. It is built by Astrium and Thales Alenia Space and will be positioned at 52.5 degrees East. With a design life of 15 years, it will be operated by the Al Yah Satellite Communications Company, a telecommunications company indirectly controlled by the Abu Dhabi Government.Weighing around 5,935 kilograms at lift-off, Yahsat Y1A was expected to be separated first around 27 minutes after the launcher started the flight.The second passenger Intelsat New Dawn was built by Orbital Sciences Corporation and weighs about 3,000 kilograms.
