SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – An Oceanside man was killed Wednesday afternoon after crashing his pickup truck into the back of a big rig on state Route 163 in Linda Vista, the California Highway Patrol said.CHP officials said the crash happened at around 3:40 p.m. on the northbound side of SR-163, just south of Genesee Avenue.According to the CHP, a white Nissan pickup truck was traveling at an unknown speed when it collided with a big rig that was directly in front of it and going at a slower speed.Aerial footage from Sky10 showed the pickup truck wedged under the back of the semi.The pickup’s driver was declared dead at the scene, the CHP said.CHP officials said the big rig’s 50-year-old male driver was not hurt and remained at the scene.Investigators are trying to determine what led to the crash, including if alcohol or drugs were involved.Watch video from the scene below:Major crash on the 163Major crash on the 163A vehicle is trapped beneath a big-rig on northbound SR-163.Posted by 10News – ABC San Diego KGTV on Wednesday, August 5, 202010News will continue to keep you updated as soon as we receive more information. 1135

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego program has received a state grant to train law enforcement officers across California.The program, Game Changer, was founded in 2016 by Sean Sheppard after he saw large protests break out across the country against police brutality.His idea was simple. He would bring members of the public together with law enforcement officers over a sports game."To get some human bonding time," explains Sheppard. "Because that rarely takes place between law enforcement and the general public."Before, they would talk for a few hours about what issues they saw between police and the communities they serve. After, they would get to socialize at the game.Since 2016, Game Changer has hosted 60 events and continues to grow.The Game Changer model was just awarded a 2-year, 0,000 grant from the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.Once the program is accredited, law enforcement personnel who complete a Game Changer event can put it toward their required training credit hours.Members of the public are needed too. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- An attorney for a man charged with killing a South Bay music producer told a jury that her client took steps to dispose of the 28-year-old’s body out of fear of being accused of the murder, but did not actually carry out the brutal stabbing himself.Both the defense and the prosecution gave closing statements Monday in the high-profile murder trial of 54-year-old Timothy John Cook. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A stylist in Bankers Hill says a "style-and-dash" customer stiffed him on a hefty bill for hair extensions.Stylist Wesley Horn says the young woman, a repeat customer, came into Plush Salon on Friday to match her hair for extensions. The next day, for several hours, he applied and blended the hair."They looked great. She loved it. She was raving about it," said Horn.Horn says when it came time to pay the cost of more than ,000, she offered to pay through the Venmo app."She said the app wasn't working, and then she offered to pay cash," said Horn.She told Horn she had to go to the car to get the cash."Fifteen minutes go by. I text her and ask, 'Are you close?' She says, 'Yes.' Forty minutes go by, and nothing. I call her, and I'm blocked from her cellphone," said Horn.Horn filed a police report, but because she hasn't been named a suspect in a crime, 10News is not identifying the woman. Horn posted details of the incident on the Nextdoor app. The replies included several more accusations of fraud against her, ranging from dine-and-dash incidents to credit card fraud and identity theft."It's insane.
