SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A unique way to watch movies outdoors is coming to San Diego's waters.Floating Cinema is coming to San Diego on Sept. 2 - 6, organizers say. Tickets will go on sale here.The cinema will include 12 to 24 mini boats that can hold up to eight people per boat. Tickets will require individuals to purchase the entire boat to make sure groups are seated with friends and family only, and to allow for distancing between boats.Throughout the week, the cinema will screen a mix between golden oldies and new releases that will be announced when tickets go on sale. Popcorn will be offered for free, while other movie snacks and drinks will be made available for purchase.Ticket options and movie screening details will be released closer to the event. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A San Diego Navy training school has been closed after a third sailor with ties to the location tested positive for coronavirus.The Navy said the sailor, who tested positive for COVID-19 on March 14, is stationed on the USS Essex and was attending Training Support Command San Diego. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Across California, the total number of COVID-19 cases are climbing.According to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), the most recent statistics on COVID-19 show California's positivity rate is trending modestly upward in the 14-day average. The CDPH said hospitalization rates over the long term are showing a slight uptick in the 14-day average.If you want to know specific outbreak locations, many county public health officials we spoke with won't tell you, unless they decide it's relevant.On June 18, San Diego County Supervisor Nathan Fletcher was asked about the locations of recent community outbreaks. In response to the question, Fletcher said, "When we think that there is a danger to the public, then we will share a location. If there's something specific that the public needs to know, then we will, of course, do that. "But, to arbitrarily do that can undermine the confidence of people to cooperate with our contact racing investigations and would ultimately be more negative to our ability to slow the spread of coronavirus, then it would be positive," said Fletcher. "I understand the curiosity, and I understand the desire to know, but ultimately we have to make decisions we think in totality will balance out, giving us the best ability to confront the public health challenges that we face."Just north of San Diego County, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health is taking a different approach.The county's COVID-19 website shares information about nursing homes and homeless shelters that meet certain positive test criteria. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A teenager was injured after jumping from an Uber driver's vehicle on Interstate 8 in Mission Valley late Tuesday.The 13-year-old boy, who's from Yucalan, Mexico, was traveling on westbound Interstate 8 in an Uber ordered by his father at about 9:20 p.m., according to San Diego CHP officials. Due to a language barrier with the Uber driver, the teenager decided to jump from the vehicle on the transition ramp to northbound State route 163, CHP officials said.The teen was taken to Rady Children's Hospital with minor injuries, according to San Diego Police.Based on the statements taken by officers, CHP said they are not pursuing the incident as a criminal matter at this time. 707

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — An Ohio man accused of pepper-spraying 11 San Diego Police officers during a demonstration last month has pleaded not guilty.Denzel Draughn, 28, pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to felony counts of unlawful use of tear gas against a peace officer and 11 felony counts of use of force against a peace officer.On Aug. 28, a group of demonstrators protesting the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisc., marched through downtown San Diego.See Sky10 video of the demonstration below:Police say that as the group neared 9th and E Streets, a vehicle that was following the group failed to stop at red lights. After police stopped the driver, a crowd began to form near the car and officers who pulled the vehicle over.SDPD says that the group ignored demands to back up from the scene, prompting one officer to pull out pepper spray. Police say one person tried to knock the pepper spray out of the officer's hand, forcing the officer to discharge the spray.Several police officers then tried to arrest the person. As the officers were placing the person in custody, a pepper spray canister fell on the ground. Officers say Draughn picked up the canister and sprayed it twice, hitting 11 officers.SDPD says Draughn fled but was later found and arrested.If convicted, Draughn faces probation to 11 years in jail.
